Title: Some slight technical challenge

I am about 3/4 of the way through the novel, it's great BTW, but ever since I read the part where the Master Sargeant at Kunsan AB was 23 years old I almost fell out of my seat. I know that back in Dr. Cussler's time it was easy make rank but in modern times an Air Force Master Sargeant must be in at least 8 years. I am currently serving in the USAF as an electrician at (believe it or not) Kunsan AB, ROK. I too am also a Master Sargeant with almost 18 years of service. I hate to be a spoiler but it almost rocked me out of the story. I thought I would share that with some of you. It was a minor thing but...
Other than that the story is great. I like both Dirks and with Summer as an addition it kind of brings the comradery spark back into the picture.

Am I right in assuming that it is either Trojan Odyssey or Black Wind? since you don't specify ;)

Yes, it's Black Wind, I too am reading it. Apparently I didn't think about it when I read that part about the Master Sergeant. This old Pirate should have known that, after having been in the Army myself. Guess, I wouldn't make a good detective!

Yes, I was talking about Black Wind. I also forgot to add that in the AF a Master Sargeant's average sew-on time is about 16 years. You have to be really, really, really (I mean really) good to sew on in 8 years. It just threw me for a loop that's all. I laughed it off because of what happened to the poor guy (the 23 y/o MSgt, that is).
