Title: Bad Move for Hugh
Description: Van Helsing Terrible
golferreino2002 - May 10, 2004 03:01 AM (GMT)
I just saw Van Helsing and I think I can speak for a lot of movie viewers when I say it was horrible. Hugh Jackman obviously didn't choose wisely. Now just to wait and see if Sahara will be a flop like Van Helsing.

I respectfully disagree. i liked Van Helsing.
Kellym - May 19, 2004 01:04 AM (GMT)

Nic0demus - May 19, 2004 01:14 AM (GMT)

you can hope and you can pray but ya you'll probably be right. If Sahara is not better than Van Helsing I will sue Crusader myself. On what grounds I don't know i'll think of something.

Golferrino, Considering your many post gushing over Hugh Jackman, This not so subtle jab at him is obviously your way of saying he should have been Wolverine, I mean Dirk in Sahara. Do you think Jackman cares all that much about Van Helsing Not doing well? He got his paycheck and nobody is saying that the film was a disaster on account of Hugh Jackman. There is no doubt that Jackman is still on film makers A-lists even though he is on your craplist because he chose not to participate in Sahara .
golferreino2002 - May 20, 2004 03:49 AM (GMT)
Hugh Jackman is one of my favorite actors.
That is why i'm upset he didn't play Dirk Pitt in Sahara.
He isn't on my craplist.
All I said was he's done some good movies (x-men), and he done some bad movies (Van Helsing)
Grossed well at the box office though.

Now, I thought Hugh Jackman gave up the movie role of Dirk Pitt because he wanted to go back to Broadway theater...and he did..but then the Van Helsing movie came out. Did Hugh change his mind about Broadway? Were Clive and Crusader too psyched for Sahara that they wouldn't wait for Hugh for a couple of years? Or was the return to Broadway a convenient reason to turn Clive down for the Dirk Pitt role?
Why did Hugh pick Van Helsing and not Sahara?

It could be all a matter of timing, as well, motorcycleress. Sahara just recently finished up principle filming, while Van Helsing's has been completed for well over a year. (Possibly longer, with the amount of time following that must have been spent on FX. Perhaps in that time he has been doing Broadway, I really don't know.

He did star in a Broadway show after he bailed on "Sahara" but I can't remember the name of it, It may have been "Oklahoma". I do remember he was singing in the review clip of the show I seen on TV.
I stand corrected, He starred as Peter Allen in the musical "The Boy From Oz"

Not that it matters now, but I fell completely asleep in the theater about two-thirds of the way through Van Helsing! ...
LeighHunt - January 12, 2005 09:05 AM (GMT)
In my opinion the only truly great thing in Van Helsing was seeing Kate Beckinsale in a corset... yummy
OkieMan - January 12, 2005 04:10 PM (GMT)
Yikes! I must have even dozed through that part!!?! .....
