Title: Cussler page count

What on earth is happening? I have noted that word count of recent Cussler books is not what it used to be when Flood Tide, Sahara etc were done??? If mr. Cussler or any of friends are monitoring: I wish you could do books as thick as Clancy´s Executive Orders! I dislike short books (short=less than 500 English pages on using average text density).

Are you referring to the Clive/Dirk's last book or the Kemprecos and DuBrul books? Black Wind has 529pp and Treasure of Khan has 560pp so I assume you mean the Numa Files and Oregon Files books.

Dirk, my apologies. I should have mentioned that I mean mainly Finnish editions. E.g. the Finnish edition of Black Wind has only 400 pages. E.g. the Cyclops had over 500 pages in its Finnish edition.

Thats interesting. I wonder if the Finnish Black Wind has been shortened or if that is normal for translated books.

At least that is not mentioned. Sahara was abridged, and I am pretty furious over that! Other Cusslers have not been abridged, at least according to the publisher. What I also find annoying is the fact that only one Kurt Austin (Andrea Doria) adventure has been translated and none of the co-efforts with Dirgo.

If you have the English hardcover edition of Trojan Odyssey, could you calculate the number of lines per page and how many characters (letters, spaces etc) there are per page? Finnish edition has 40 lines and 66-70 characters per full line. There are 389 numbered pages. I don´t know if you knew this, but it is often said by experts that translating the same text from English to Finnish results in text requiring more space. At least some cartoonist have mentioned that they have to draw bigger "bubbles" to cater for differences in length.
