i have about 12 dirk pitt books, i have never read any as yet, do i have to read them in order and which is the first is it Pacific vortex as fantastic fiction says but this was'nt the first writtern. could you please help.

Welcome to the forum! Yes, Pacific Vortex was the first book Clive wrote, but he didn't publish it until later. Meditteranean Caper (Mayday) was the first one published. I'd start with Pacific Vortex, since it feels out of place in the series when it was published. It has a more straightforward flow to it.

Mostly Heep gave a list of the order of every Cussler book in a recent post. If you dig around I'm sure you'll be able to find it. Good luck!
