Title: My Own Book
Description: Inspired by CC

I've written my own action adventure book which I've been told is good but needs a bit of editing as it's a first draft.

DO you know is there still a niche in the market for these books or has CC and the like filled it?

I think there's a place to get published on the internet. Our member Nick Kismet is also a budding action adventure author who was in your shoes a few years ago. Now he has published a few books.

I know several people who have self-published their own boooks. You know, just ran off 500 copies or something.

But I also know a few people who write daily on the internet, and they are widely read.

First, get your boooks in PDF format and also maybe in Audio format: See if you can find a few people with good Radio Voices and have them read your book. Then add Sound Effects, and you can store the Audio Books on a personal website: Then make a RAM or an M3U file that points to the MP3 content.

If you do not know how to make MP3 files, it is really easy: I can tell you how to do it in a few paragraphs. You will need an Audio Mixer, 4 to 8 channel Stereo, a good Computer Sound card, which can be bought from about 100$ up: a good microphone or 2 or 3, some mike stands, and some music stands. Then you use Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 5 or 6 (can be found on Ebay used, cheaply).

Using Sound Forge you can change your computer into a decent recording studio, there are several cheap off the shelf programs that add special effects.

Then you use WinLAME to convert the output WAV audio file to MP3, set it at about 192KBps, and then you make an M3U file, which is a text file that "points" to where you have the MP3 stored.

If you are interested, I can tell you how to go about this. It is pretty easy, all you need is an investment of about 300 bucks or so to buy the programs and equipment you need for contact creation... You can use Theatre students as voice talent.

I was thinking about using Athena here in the UK. They help run off a few hundred copies and to be honest I might do that if I can't get interest elsewhere. Its mainly a project I am interested in and not much else really. A few friends have read it and enjoyed it but you never know what angle the publisher is going to take.

I did a computing degree so I already have the PC for MP3 files, I had never thought to put it into audio form. Thanks, i think ill give it a go/
