This is the website for the quest to return HMS Whimbrel to the UK from Egypt where she has served since 1949. The ship is the last surviving RN ship from WWIIs Battle of the Atlantic and was part of the legendary "Johnnie" Walker's sub chasing group.

This is the first I've heard of this project and the ship. It is so cool that she survives and let's hope she can serve as a memorial to a lot of brave people.

Excellent painting for sale too!

Nice, I hope they can bring it home. We have a Naval Museum in Buffalo, N.Y. About 60 miles away. There is a Destroyer, a Battleship and a Submarine. I've tour all of the.. It takes awhile to get through them but well worth the time. The sub is awesome to go through. I can't beli9eve so many men lived in such small quaters for so long a time. It really is an eye opener.

I too hope they manage to pull it off.

Its about time we had a memorial to those who took part in the BOA.
