Title: New Cussler book due out Fall 2007

DirkPitt - January 26, 2007 06:16 PM (GMT)
I just received a message that a new Cussler book is due out this fall. They told me the title of the new book but I am waiting to hear back from them that it is ok to disclose it. At this stage I don't even know if its another Clive Cussler off shoot book like "Vin Fiz" or if its co-authored.

Until I get the ok to name the book, I thought in the meantime we could have some fun by guessing it. :lol: The title fits in the spaces below ;

Here's the official book description ;

The Chase by Clive Cussler

co: A turn of the century adventure novel about a ruthless bank robber, who leaves no one alive behind robbing bank after bank by non intrusively first blending into a town, then fading away unnoticed, therefore not missed by a soul. Justice is pursued by Isaac Bell, a charismatic detective, wealthy enough to spend his days in leisure, but too young for inactivity, whose vocation in life is catching criminals who think their wits give them license to break the law and get away with it. Cussler is in his best form and setting aside Dirk Pitt, does not seem a setback at all. Those with a taste for fast cars will not be disappointed as Clive masterfully shifts to locomotives’ chase. Step by step he tantalizes the reader to an unexpected conclusion co:

If I was a betting man(I'd have won the friggin lottery by now) I would say this is his western book...so The Chase seems the best suited as a title

If we put 2 + 2 together, we can be fairly sure that the book in question is Clive's new western. This from a recent interview last year with Clive ;

What is it like writing and working with your son, Dirk?

Oh, it’s fantastic. He does 90% of it, so I’ve had fun doing some other things. I wrote a children’s book called Vin Fiz and it’s done really well. Then I did a western, kind of a turn-of-the-century western, and that will be out next year.

Is this true about the grandfather's name? You are a real fan if you know that. Where was it mentioned.

tonym5 - February 8, 2007 05:43 AM (GMT)
If you have read my fan fiction story, Legacy, you would know George Pitt's grandfather is Daniel! :P

DUH! gawd...EVERYONE should know that! :blink:

Thanks for the description, Tony! I would have preferred a horse-drawn wagon chase, but a train one will do.

I'm still waiting to hear what I win for guessing the name of the book. j:

This book has been written for some time and was first disclosed by Clive at the 2005 Clive Cussler Convention (Clive Cussler Collector's Society) in Denver, Colorado.

Clive later told me at the 2006 Convention (in Scottsdale) that the book was being released in the fall of 2007 so as not to interfere with the next NUMA Files & Oregon Files books.

He seems very excited about the story that he described as "an old fashion detective story" using turn-of-the-century devices & plot-twists. I'm betting this will be what many had hoped the updated "Wild Wild West" movie could have been - an exciting, western-styled adventure that leaves you breathless.

I hope it is a kids book. I enjoyed Vin Fizz and wish I could get ahold of 30 copies for my class to read (I teach 7th grade). Any ideas on how to get some books donated to my class? :unsure:

Awesome! I can't wait for another book! I love the stuff this guy does. I am fairly new to cussler stuff, and reading for enjoyment altogether. I gotta say, Cussler's stuff is what got me interested in reading for enjoyment in general. Great stuff, and I always look forward to it.
