Title: Shock Wave anomaly

The Ghost Who Walks - March 2, 2007 07:01 AM (GMT)
I have been reading Clive Cussler's books for just over a year and have managed to get through about a dozen of them so far. beer: w:

One thing that hits me is that most contain a true-to-life historical event (which I really love) and although I have not looked into if the dates are historically accurate - most appear to be.

However, in the case of Shock Wave I found that it discusses a convict ship that falls victim to a storm on route to Botany Bay, Sydney in 1856. Yet, by this period no convicts were being sent to the eastern coast of Australia. The only colony accepting convicts at this time was Western Australia.

You can find information about this on this site: http://members.iinet.com.au/~perthdps/convicts/res-02.html

Has anyone noticed this anomaly before?

Welcome to the forum!

Convicts were still being sent to Tasmania in the 1850's, but New South Wales did not allow any more convicts after 1840. I agree that the year mentioned in Shock Wave should have been more accurate.

Rob sure does know how to make a person feel welcome. I guess that's what Sasquatch's are best at, since no body can ever get close enough to take a clear picture of one.
