Title: New Movies
Description: What have you seen???

Beccaboo - May 27, 2007 03:43 AM (GMT)
We just saw the new Pirates movie this afternoon it was AWESOME! I do have to admit the ending was not what I expected. I'm not going to spoil it so that is all I'm going to say.

But with all the cool stuff that has been coming out (and WILL be coming out this summer) I thought I would start the discussions and personal reviews.

The next one we are probably going to go see is Shrek 3 and I know Ben and Alex are going to try and see Transformer at the midnight showing when it comes out. And I REALLY want to see Oceans 13.

So what have you guys seen? And what do ya think?

tonym5 - May 27, 2007 04:43 AM (GMT)
Have seen Spiderman 3 at the Drive-In and loved it!!!! I give it four exclamation points!!!! w: The only comment I can think of is that I am not crazy about Kirsten Dunst.

Beccaboo - May 27, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
I want to see Spiderman but I think I'm going to wait until DVD

*EDIT*

About PIRATES!!! Stay until the END OF THE CREDITS!!!!!!
You will miss something VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU DON'T

Everyone in our theater left but us! WHAT!!! Have they not learned ANYTHING about movies!!! Especially this one! It is REALLY important to see the clip at the end!

I hope I made my point!

I've seen Grindhouse which was great. I thought Planet Terror was better than Death Proof. Addy will be out of town for a couple of weeks in June so I'm going to see 28 weeks later, Hostel 2, and Pirates.

Andy in West Oz - May 27, 2007 11:59 PM (GMT)
Julie, those movies just stress me out too much! You're hard core!

Saw Spiderman 3 a couple of weeks ago. I didn't like it as much as 2 but it was still a good flick. I love the Spidey films but I wouldn't give this one four exclamations points. Maybe two!!

Pirates came out here on Thursday but we had a busy weekend rebuilding the kitchen (I hate Ikea, the Swedes copped a hammering from me as I was hanging things on walls). Probably go see it this coming weekend as it's a long weekend.

Latest movies I have seen:

Hot Fuzz: A+
28 Weeks Later: B+
Spiderman 3: B+

Hot Fuzz is a must see. The comedy is english so some may not like it. Note: There are several very violent scenes. Think way over the top death scenes.

28 weeks later is a typical zombie movie however the twist, like 28 days later is that the zombies run really damn fast and it doesnt take long to turn.

Bec, I may be reaching here but do you want us to wait until the end of the credits??

I saw Spiderman a couple days ago, I thought it was good but not as good as the previous 2. Going to see POTC today (so cheers Bec ;) )

Andy in West Oz - May 31, 2007 03:23 AM (GMT)

Alex and I went to see Shrek tonight. It was really cute. And guess what? NOTHING at the end of the credits! HAHAHA Oh well, that won't stop me at other movies 'cause you never know. There was a character hadn't heard would be in it, Erik Idle (Monty Python) was the voice of Merlin and he was REALLY funny.

Anywho...what did you guys see this weekend?

Andy in West Oz - June 2, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
Went and saw Pirates and had a ball. There were a couple of places where I thought there was a bit too much talking (read explaining) going on but I just sat back and enjoyed the ride. I'm the same, Bec, was not expecting the ending but it was well done and kinda seemed right.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!

I thought it was pretty predictable especially the end - well it depends on which 'end' we are talking about of course LOL Now when you say wait until after the credits did you mean the whole credits or the first part of the credits???? If it was just the 1st part of the credits then I wasn't surprised by that at all, if you meant the end, end of the credits then I missed something :(

pink little birdie - June 3, 2007 02:15 PM (GMT)
I saw spiderman 3 tonight. I liked it more than 1 or 2. I liked it. :)

Beccaboo - June 6, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
Hey, Kelly, I meant the END END!

I'm mean stay the whole 5 or so minutes to go through, everyone and his brother who even thought about working on the movie, END of the credits. Might sound time consuming and boring but it's really worth it. It is probably one of the best "surprise" end clips I've seen.

The more I've thought about it Andy I'm a little disappointed with the end. I guess I was expecting something with, Oh I don't know, more closer.

tonym5 - June 6, 2007 10:17 PM (GMT)
I always read the credits on TV Shows and movies. Have done so most of my life. And it helps when you are at a Drive-In Theater to read the credits while everyone else is leaving. By the time the credits are done you don't have to worry about traffic! One of my pet peeves is when TV credits are sqooshed into a smaller screen making it almost impossible to read.

Andy in West Oz - June 6, 2007 11:37 PM (GMT)
That annoys me on things like the Simpsons where I'm trying to work out who the guest voice is or where shows have bloopers from that episode etc.

Bec, I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the ending as well simply because it was not as happy as it could have been (hey, I'm a sucker for things that work out right!). A lot of people are saying it's been left pretty open at the end for another one but I'm not so sure.

I saw Knocked Up last night. Its pretty darn funny and it has an ending that the girls with me said was very cute.

Andy in West Oz - June 8, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
Shrek the Third over the weekend.

Shaun, is Knocked Up the film by the same guy/s who did 40 Year Old Virgin?

Bummer, that is the last time I go to the cinema with teenage boys :(

We had to literally sit on them to make them stay for the 1st part <_<

I liked Pirates 3 wasn't as scary as 1 or 2. Ididn't even have to close my eyes once in it :D
Dissapointed in the end though... could of been more closing left it open for a fourth.

I like to sit through the credits, too, but most of the people I go to the movies with are practically to the car by the time the lead actor's name appears. My cousin and I would always watch the credits, though.

I think the credits are especially important after particularly emotional or powerful movies like Glory, We Were Soldiers, and Rent. They give you a chance to reflect on the message or on how the movie made you feel. Gives you the opportunity to let it all sink in before joining the rat race once again. Kind of a buffer between the movie reality and real life reality.

I never thought about it like that Erik, but that is a really good point.

After I saw the clip at the end of Ferris Bueller's Day Off I've tried to watch or stay after all the credits.

Plus you don't have to fight the traffic in the parking lot after the movie!

There's a clip at the end of Ferris Bueller's Day Off? Half of me has no idea what you're talking about, while the other half thinks it does. Please elaborate. :)

I saw, new DVD release, Pan's Labyrinth last night with my mom and stepdad and I highly recommend it. I cried and cried at the end. It really is a stunning visual film.

After the credits for Ferris Bueller. The camera comes back on in the hallway of his house and Ferris walks out of the bathroom (think he just got out of the shower) looks into the camera and says....

"Your still here? The movies over. Go home....go......" and he turns and walks away. I think he says "shoo" too.

Nothing huge, it's the first time I remember seeing something at the end of the credits. Now I don't want to miss anything!

Andy in West Oz - June 14, 2007 05:25 AM (GMT)
Reading the credits in films like the Naked Gun series is amusing. Lots of corny jokes and one liners in there.

And of course the Jackie Chan films' credits are great!

Ah yes, I do remember that now. Thanks Becca!

And any movie with outtakes during the credits is good in my book. th:

Kellym - June 14, 2007 09:11 PM (GMT)
Ok, so I managed to twist Becca's arm into telling me what I missed at the end of POTC and I didn't miss anything Woo Hoo!!! Over here they showed it after the main actors credits, they didn't wait until the END END!!!

Thanks Bec :)

This isn't a "new" movie because I saw it at the Budget Cinema ($2 movies = soooo much better than $10 movies)... but I saw Fracture last night.

For anyone unfamiliar with the movie, it's basically a legal/crime thriller where you watch Anthony Hopkins kill his wife and then try to weasle out of being convicted for it. He's a sneaky, conniving, manipulative mastermind and there are a couple of interesting twists along the way. Pretty well done, and you really have to think hard to come up with inplausibilities or potential plot holes.

Overall, pretty good but I'm not sure what the title means. Can anyone who's seen it elucidate for me? And what was with that bit at the beginning in the airport?

mrsgrandmom - June 18, 2007 07:08 PM (GMT)
Shrek 3. I liked it but wouldn't want to see it again. Grandkids loved it. I will buy it on dvd when it comes out for the kids. I like thriller and action movies. I am going to take the grandchildren to see Harry Potter at the I-Max theater when it comes out. I really like watching movies on the big screen. I do have a 60 inch screen at the house with surround sound. I don't think I could go back to little screens now.

Kellym - June 20, 2007 10:55 PM (GMT)
That was advertised here not long ago, Erik. I thought it looked good. I'm soooo going to see Shrek 3 :P

Andy in West Oz - June 20, 2007 11:15 PM (GMT)
Fracture's due to come out here soon too. Still haven't seen Shrek 3. Might go this weekend, it's the first weekend when we haven't had anyone visiting or staying!

Saw Hostel 2 last night and although it was supremely disturbing(bathtub girl and scissors toward the end) I didn't think it was as good as the first one in terms of blood, guts, gore and all the stuff that makes you throw up.
