Title: Pitt your questions to Dirk
Description: An opportunity to put a question to Dirk

whitbycolin - May 31, 2007 01:00 AM (GMT)
Sorry for the pun in my topic title, I simply couldn't resist. :P

It is fast approaching that time of the year when the search for the ill fated "Bonhomme Richard" gets underway. The last e-mail I had from Dirk indicated that the charter vessel would be heading in to port early June. As usual I am really looking forward to getting reacquainted with the search team.

I thought that as a gift to forum members that I would extend them the opportunity of putting a question to Dirk and the team. If you have a question I would be happy to put them to Dirk (or even Clive) if he can get around this lawsuit and make it over himself? If I am inundated with questions I will do what I can to get them answered or make a random selection. I have not planned on how to address them here on the forum but if all else fails we can always use the PM.

Best wishes to all

Great idea Colin!

I would like to know whether they are still searching within their favoured areas or if they've had to expand into areas that they initially regarded as low priorities.

Any word on the competitors?

Guess I'm in the dark on this, I'd like to hear more about the search and what vessel their looking for. As for a question for Dirk and Clive.......Seattle anytime soon?????? pretty please with a cherry on top!!!!

Does anyone know if Clive or Dirk do any of the diving on their projects or do they just oversee the search? cop:

Should they reach their goal of finding the BH how will they fend off others from saying they were the ones who found it, as others are now doing to the Hunley? snor:

Owen, they're looking for the Bon Homme Richard, John Paul Jones's most famous command. JPJ is regarded as the father of the American Navy.

Here;'s a nifty link that tell more:

I would like you to put a couple of 'Q's' to DR Cussler if you would Please.

To Clive : When (if ever) will he come to the UK for a book signing tour?.

As there are many fans over here who would love the chance to meet him and to have there books signed, but are unwilling to 'bug him' while searching for the BHR.

To Dirk : How is he coping with the expectations and pressures of keeping the long term Pitt fans satisfied, now that he is writing / co-writing the Pitt series.

To Both: As I live in Yorkshire, would they like another volonteer when they come over to search?.

;)

It would be good to read about how the adventures all got started.

I have a question to Dirk. (Or Clive, or both. If and whoever gets it).

When this serch effort is over or when you have time, Would you be interested in reading and giving an opinion on my Raise the Titanic fanscript?

... Sorry, I had to post it. I'll take any opertunity I can get to have a Cussler read it over. And for the record, I'm completely serious.

Thanks,

~T.F

I could ask about your latiest adventure. But I am not.

If I could have one question it would be "What are my prospects of having the opportunity of meeting you in person? I live with in about 1 and 1/2 hours from Baltimore and Washington DC. I hope you answer the questions yourself and not thru another.

The email said "Would you like to ask Clive a question. " A responce from you would be almost like meeting you, but not as much fun. I love your work. I watch other women read love stories, and they look at me reading a Clive Cussler. Often I am asked "Who's Clive Cussler?" I say "You read one of his books, and you will not stop reading him until you locate and read every single thing this man has written."

I hold one to your new books and read them much later, like savoring a great meal.

I hope to hear from you directly.

Didn't Clive get a pic of the Bonnie Dick using that gadget of Bill Shea's? Some magnetometer or sidescan sonar? (I must put one of those in my Sea Lotus After I come back from the dead and then find another treasure ship filled with ancient chinese treasures). I thought I saw an image of that somewhere... Ah, no: It was a sidescan sonar image of U-21.

Anyway, if I (The person of my BBS namesake that is) were an american, I would say, Three cheers for Clive, Dirk and Dirk™:

HUZZAH!
HUZZAH!
HUZZAH!

But I also say, Three Cheers for the Bonnie Dick:

Hello.
Any chance of asking whether Clive & Dirk would consider a UK tour, there have got to be thousands of fans that would give up a weekend to travel to anywhere in the Uk, for a chance to meet them in person and get a book signed.
Kind Regards
Rob

or a trip to Australia, it would be worth the trip across the country to meet the Cusslers :-)
