Was the 1980's RTT board game pulled from the shelves?? I found this interesting article ;
The game is called "Raise The Titanic" put out by Hoyle Games and issued in 1987. Per American Games Collectors Guide it states this game is rare and was pulled from the market due to survivors protests (pg. 142).
Game playing info ;
This is actually a two part-two play game. Part 1: The object of this part of the game is to acquire more valuable artifacts, fam, and money than any other player. Part 2: The first part of the game is over and play temporarily stops when the Titanic is raised (by taking the last metal artifact from the ship). The object no is to be the one to reach the Home Port space with the Ship's Log. The winner of the game is the player with the highest total worth. The game is intended for 2-4 players, ages 8 to adult.
So really it has nothing to do with Clive's book?
Interesting concept... I can see why survivors (and family of victims) would be offended by the idea of looting and graverobbing the ship.
Remind me again how many survivors were alive in 1987.
There couldn't have many, more likely it was the families of the people. I had the game but sold it on ebay. t:
