Title: Polar Shift Error
Description: Spoiler Warning.

I just read Polar Shift. And I noticed something that struck me as odd. The scientists on Ivory Island are talking about cloneing a mamoth and getting a hybrid. They said that they would take an egg from an indian elephant and use radiation to get rid of the dna and then implant it with the mamoth dna. The process they talked about completely destorys the dna in the suragate egg. The resulting baby would be full mamoth, if it could be brought to term by the suragate mother. Mamoths and elephant are quite different. The fact that a baby mamoth would be considerable larger at birth that a baby indian elephant and no vet has ever performed major surgery on an elephant that I know of. I doubt a ceasearn section would be a pliable option. The larger African elephant would be slightly better suited. They also talked of breeding to get in individual that is 80 something precent mamoth. Ain't happening. A donkey and a horse can be bred to produce a mule. Donkeys and horses are two DIFFERENT but closely related species. 99% of mules are sterile. If they did get a mamoth and bred it to a elephant the baby would be sterile and would never produce babies of its own.

It's ok coach.........the mamophant/elemoth(whatever) would be able to fly a helicopter in a hurricane(it's fiction after all right?) ;)

Yeah, I know it is fiction. But, I am a biology major, i pick up things like this. Also I thought that part was supposed to hold some scientific bases. Not if you don't mind i had officially droped the subject about two months ago. Now I will get back to more important things such as my chemistry lab report. <_<

Rob just one word based on what you said - [SIZE=14]HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!![SIZE=14]
That was pretty funny. Sorry I haven't been over there on the other site lately but I have been pretty busy.
Riyucko sorry if it seemed like we might have been making fun of you but we weren't. It's a little inside joke between Rob and I. There is this idiot on another Cussler site who bashes CC.
Rob and I have done a great job of proving this guy is an idiot but he still thinks he is right.
I didn't doubt what you put but really didn't understand it.

To put it simply, You cannot clone and get a hybrid. You would get a full blooded animal. I can't believe anyone would actually bash CC. Let me at him and we'll see if he keeps it up.

Now that is not cloning. My case still stands.
