Sacred Stone Book DescriptionClive Cussler debuted his new series, The Oregon Files, with the incredible adventure of Golden Buddha. Now he follows that triumph with Sacred Stone, a rollicking new tale featuring the enigmatic captain of The Oregon, Juan Cabrillo.
In the remote wastes of Greenland, an ancient artifact possessing catastrophic radioactive power is unearthed. But the astounding find puts the world at risk.
Caught between two militant factions bent on wholesale slaughter, Juan Cabrillo and his network of spies known as The Corporation must fight to protect the stone-and prevent the outbreak of World War III.
Lost City Book DescriptionAn enzyme that will dramatically prolong life has been discovered two thousand feet down in the North Atlantic, in an area known as "Lost City." But why are the people attempting to harvest it getting killed? Why are the scientists in a remote Greek laboratory disappearing one by one? What does this all have to do with a body found frozen in the ice high up in the Alps? To Kurt Austin, leader of NUMA's Special Assignments Team, and his colleague Joe Zavala, it's clear they have their work cut out for them, but it may be even bigger than they think-in fact, it may be their greatest challenge of all. . . .
Rich with all the hair-raising action and endless imagination that have become Cussler's hallmarks, Lost City is an exceptional thriller.

Lets just hope Dirgo's taken heed to the reviews of Golden Buddha and brushed up on his writing skills. Its evident that Clive Cussler did not write that book. Anybody notice how many times "He/she said" appears. I felt at times like I was reading something written by a highschool sophomore. Maybe Cussler will take a bigger role in the writing of Sacred Stone, otherwise I dont know how he could let his name appear on the cover of something without substance.

Robert Ludlum books are still published with him long gone and others using his name. Clive is another "branded" author that others including Dirgo, Kemprecos, and Dirk Cussler will follow using Clive's name whether they are good or not. Lets hope and pray they can do some justice.
Cussler Fanatic - June 6, 2004 11:27 PM (GMT)
Well you anti Dirgo fans get a life!!! I've read his works including Einstein Papers and enjoyed every one! Trying to compare anyone to someone else is just plan silly. I have to say that the publishers must like what they see or else they wouldn't publish anyones work. Sure Clive is the master but I've heard complaints about his first efforts also, as a matter of fact his first work was rejected! Whether or not Clive is involved with the writing he does choose to have his name on the books. He is probably more qualified than any of us!!

Golden Buddha was ponderous at times, so many characters, so many names, way too much going on at once...I think it would make for a great movie plot because of the all the quickly timed actions of the crew...as for the novel, I have to say I didn't see much of Clive in there at all...I'll still read the new Oregon Files books with as much zealous as I do the the Kurt Austin series...maybe not with so much zealous as DP though ;)
I'm excited though, I've got a lot to look forward to for some good reading this summer!

I just tried to read Golden Budda and couldn't do it. I put it down half way through and never did go back to it. I did read the last two pages and though "I should have started here and saved myself a lot of time!" I hope the Sacred Stone is better.....I look forward to the day Dirk Cusssler desides to start writing.

The following have "written" books with Robert Ludlum: Gayle Lynd, Keith Fernell, Philip Shelby, and Eric Lusterader. There are only two that have worked with Cussler.
Like you I pray that anyone who 'works' with Cussler does write within the standards we have come to enjoy.

i can't wait to read it!!

golden budda was a hard book to read, but I got through it. The people on it are interesting and and interact well with each other. I will buy and read the next one. I'm always looking for a new cussler book. t:

i must admit that i love DP the best and no one will ever compare to him.
however, i also enjoy reading numa files and oragon files, including einstein papers. the best way for me to enjoy those books is not to think of DP.
i believe that DP won't mind if i get astray from time to time. :P

hate to make an inept analogy but hank ketcham's dennis the menace comic strip is still going strong by ron ferdinand and this is possible because hank ketcham wrote out a "bible" that sets the parameters for ron ferdinand to follow. clive cussler should take this approach while he still can. that way others could wrap their story telling efforts within the "borders" so to speak. there's my 12 cents worth

NO SPOILERS
I just read the ARC of Sacred Stone and enjoyed it immensely...the plot was compelling, current and I thought easy to follow. Once you buy into the concept of the Oregon Files I think the rest is easy.

Wow! ... your quick off the mark! ... the proofs for that book have only just come out.
How would you rate it against the first Oregon Files book, Golden Buddha?

chuckend2, I am nit picking here, but the author's name is Eric van Lustbader.
tonym5 - August 22, 2004 06:35 AM (GMT)
I have read Eric Van Lustbader's Nicholas Linnear novels and enjoy his writing. He writes a very in depth, complex tale.

I really hope Sacred Stone is better than GB <_<
MrKABC - August 31, 2004 10:58 PM (GMT)
I hope this one is better than Golden Buddha. That book was C R A P.
To say I was disappointed was an understatement.
I'll await your opinions here on the board before I decide if I am going to pop the money. Maybe I should just go to the library first and check it out?

w: Just finished Scared Stone. Had a hard time getting through the first half. Too much going on??? not sure. Last 1/2 classic Cussler. Not sure if "better" than Golden Buddha but definately different.

I took a long time to read Scared Stone but not because the book was hard to read. All my time was on the computer in the forum. I liked the book. I'm getting use to the people in it but, can't wait for Black Wind . It's been to long without some Dirk and Al. th:
