Title: Cussler Script
Description: Disc. on which script to attempt

Greetings Fellow Cussler Fans- this is my first post, i actually just found this site and its fascinating to see so many Dirk Pitt and Cussler fans.

I picked up my first book back in high school, and loved it (shockwave) from the beginning. I was immediately hooked. Some years, and many books but not all of the series later, i find myself as an indie film producer and watching Sahara on the big screen.

its difficult to translate a great piece of literature into a visual masterpiece. I read some of the forums on the recent Sahara, and i think that a movie needs to be based on a script that is based off of a book much more closely... Dirk Pitt in my mind has the ability within him to be this generations Indiana Jones. This generation really needs one...

so... all that being said, I want to write a treatment and then a script for one of the Dirk Pitt series. I have my own personal favorites, but i want fans like you to let me know which i should write.

At this point in life im freshly out of college working independently as a photographer and indie producer, i have toyed around with some various writings. This will be a sizable task, but i know the demand is there for a modern day cinematic action hero.

It needs to be one that would break our true to fiction hero well, i don't really believe that sahara(the movie) did a very good job with the character profiles, pitt was marginal, giordino was way off, and amist the backwards and omitted plot lines, it left me with a wanting feeling.

which do you think the world should see to reveal to them the Dirk Pitt we all know and love?

First of all, welcome to the forum!

I for one would like to see a "Dirk Pitt's first adventure" script, an introduction to Dirk Pitt from the beginning. So that would be an adaption of Pacific Vortex, but with the inclusion of the obvious "missing pages" from the original manuscript.

I assume you've read Pacific Vortex, and if you have you are probably wondering what I mean by "missing pages". If your prepared to spend the time concocting a script, I'm prepared to send you a copy of "The Clive Cussler Code" which will enlighten you.

Send me a PM (personal message) with your mailing addy and I'll send you a copy compliments of the forum.

Cheers ... Tony

I've personally thought that all of the books would make great movies, but some just have great scenes that would be breathtaking cinematically. Iceberg could be good as the ship in the berg would be neat to see and it has lots of action/chase scenes like when Dirk's helicopter crashes after he downs that plane, then the one on the boat against the hydrofoil. It has espionage and other great traits, and Dirk's superhuman trek at the end. Med Caper would be cool too with scenes in the labrynth, with the old bi-plane and Giordino shooting out the back door of the floatplane, and the submarine dock at the end.

thanks for the warm welcome

i love the flying scenes like the ones in iceberg with him ramming a jet with a helicopter and the dogfight in med caper. im gonna start pacific vortex over again tomorrow, when i finish the last two chapters of iceberg

and i love the offhand references they make, inside joke style, like you are talking about Riyukco, some of them are in other books and some are left to our imagination.

few authors can hold my attention as he does.

2/3s through the first sweep of the book, basic summaries and notables, i forgot how much i dug this adventure. it has major potential and the style is being formulated :)

Hey there. Welcome to the forum, first off. It's been a while since I posted, but I saw this topic and thought I'd jump in. A while ago, I did a screenplay for Raise the Titanic, one of the earlier Pitt adventures. Not sure if you've read it yet, but even if you haven't, if you'd like to read my idea on how a screen version of a Pitt book would be, PM me with your e-mail adress and I'll send it your way.

I also started a Night Probe script but lost interst in it for a while. I think I might pick that one back up at some point. ;) Personally, I'd think Night Probe would be the best one to be made into a movie besides RTT. It has some amazing action sequences, a great villain, and an interesting ending. Even if I do start mine up again, I think you should give Night Probe a try.

Inca Gold seems to me to be the best action and spy novel of the Dirk Pitt adventures. The desert and under the desert scenes could play well on the big screen.
