Title: Reading Counts Questions
Description: Need help creating Reading counts quiz

Pyrite - November 5, 2007 03:45 AM (GMT)
Hi, w:

I have gotten a complete set of Cussler books for our school library. Our school uses Reading counts quizzes to track the reading progress of the students. To get more students willing to read the books ( besides the few my daughter has gotten reading them already), the librarian has asked if I could come up with quizzes for the books that don't have quizzes available.

The quizzes need to be made up of 30 or more multiple choice questions on each book.

The school has gotten the quizzes that are available: The Adventures of Vin Fiz, Altantis Found, Deep Six, Dragon, Inca Gold, Sahara, Serpent, Treasure, and Vixon 03.

Any help people can give will be appreciated. Even a few questions would help.

This will help get a new generation of readers interested in these great novels!

Thanks,

This may take awhile...Is there a time limit for handing in the questions?

If we start a thread for each book that doesn't have questions yet in the book section I'm sure between all of us we can come up with 30 questions of varying difficulty

Julie you want Night Probe?
Liz can have Raise the Titanic th:

:o Tony do you understand what multiple choice means? Great questions but all you needed to do was have one word answers mate.
And your post is extrememly hard to read so I've edited it for you so that humans can read it and not just your alien brothers :P

We are talking about Middle school and high school students.

The way reading counts work is this.

Base on the difficulty of the book and the lenght, books are assigned a ponit value. After the student reads a book, they take a quiz on the computer about the book. The quiz is 10 questions long randomly selected from a group of 30 or more multiple choice questions about the book. Any book that has been made into a movie, most questions are about things that were in the book and not the movie. It takes 70% to pass the quiz. Example: Sahara and Inca Gold are valued at 37 points each.

Treachers can use this system to track the progress of students reading. Our school for example, requires 8th graders to pass 45 points of quizzes every 9 weeks of school (Advance students are required to pass 75 points). This way, students can read books that interest them and still be tests on the books.

The program can starts with kindergarden and have quizzes available through 12 grade.

Some local Pizza Huts have become involved with it by giving free personal pan pizzas to students for completing different requirements.

Thanks again for your help!!
