Looks like Clive has read it and has given it the thumbs up. Anyone else read it?
The Samson Effect
Book Description
Since discovering an ancient scroll in a cave in Hebron, Israel, American biblical archeologist Thomas Hamilton and his trusted friend and colleague, Israeli biblical linguist Michael Sieff, have been consumed with the notion of the Samson Effect-the idea that a long-lost elixir can allow an ordinary person to perform superhuman feats. When they happen upon a worn Hebrew parchment that not only confirms the existence of the Samson Effect but could potentially lead them to its source, the scholars embark on an impassioned crusade for the truth behind the myth.
But Hamilton and Sieff aren't the only ones intent on uncovering the secret of Samson's strength. An unrelenting sect of Jewish protectors will let no one stand in the way of their mission to reclaim what they had hidden nearly three thousand years ago, and a brilliant but ruthless Palestinian leader will stop at nothing to find and use the Samson Effect to empower his army of soldiers for a jihad against the world in the name of Allah.
It isn't long before their joint pursuit becomes a deadly one, and Hamilton and Sieff come to the grim realization that the Samson Effect is more powerful and far-reaching than they ever anticipated. In the wrong hands, it could trigger a worldwide catastrophe.
A chilling and suspenseful tale of political and religious intrigue set in the unforgiving landscape of the Middle East, The Samson Effect wanders the boundaries of obsession and love, betrayal and allegiance, and vengeance and justice.

I haven't read it but I found out about it through Tony Eldridge when he Myspaced me (he's reaching out to Cussler fans) and I told him I would read it. Want me to get you a copy Tony?

This book does sound very interesting. Books usually have to catch me on the discripion or I just move on but this one really intrigues me. When is it coming out?

I was going to say the same thing, Bec. For his first novel, he appears to have started off with something good!

Hey all,
I wanted to thank everyone from this site who has contacted me to order or encourage me on my new book, The Samson Effect. You have been great. I tell you, the greatest joy I had with this whole process is when I received a handwritten letter from Clive Cussler with the quote I used on the cover. To show you how much of a gentleman he is, when I sent him a signed copy of the book, he took the time to send me another handwritten letter of thanks (very eloquent) but he sent it to me via my publisher. That's Class.
For those of you who have asked, I want to let you know that Authors Den has made my autographed books available to order on their site. You can find the page here:
Author's Den: Tony Eldridge's BooksTo order the signed copies, you must click on the link above the book's cover that says "Buy Autograph Books". If you click on the amazon.com add they put on the right of the page, I will never get the request to send you a signed book.
You have your choice of signed hardcover or signed paperback. I have not added anything to the cost of the book for you to participate in this program.
If you would like me to personalize the book, you must send me an e-mail at tony@samsoneffect.com to let me know you ordered the book through Author's Den and what name you would like me to make the book out to. Otherwise, you will get a signed book but no personalized greeting.
Thaks again for this community's awesome support. I hope you all have a wonderful 2008!
Tony Eldridge

Glad to see Tony E left a message here to everyone. I had heard of it too. He also approached me on MySpace and we chatted about Cussler a bit. This is another book to add to my list of "behind on reads". :)

LOL, Lat, you do not want to see my pile of books to be read. It's gotten to the slightly ridiculous stage. TE's book, though, has jumped up the list and will be read after ToK which is next after Fullerton's Storm Force to Narvik.

Riyuko let me be the first to say (and probably the only to say) that books are overrated in college. I went my first two years and bought everyone of them like the good little student I was. One semester broke me of buying them though.
I bought a music book for about $85 - used - and NEVER opened it the entire semster. I even stopped bringing it too class because we never used it. I went to sell it back to the bookstore at the end of the semester and they gave me a $1 for it. I was sooooooo ticked I couldn't see straight. I swore I would never buy another book again.
I went the next two years and did not buy a book. My grades even went up after this.
Move ahead a few years and I am starting on my masters degree. I thought "hey this is going to be tougher than undergrad I will need to buy my books". I bought my first two classes and I ..........wait for it.............wait for it.........amazingly NEVER USED THEM and sold them back for almost nothing close to what I bought it for. So I decided then to never buy books for my masters degree. Finished with a 3.5 GPA.
Books are overrated and sorry if I end up hijacking the thread.

Thank you for the fix Andy because you are right. In fact I will even amend your amending - College testbooks are overrated - MOST books are great especially Clive Cussler's.
Thanks for the save.
