Another cruise ship is sinking. Makes you not want to go on one.

| The Explorer's emergency began when it struck a chunk of ice that tore a hole in its hull about the size of a fist, Hayes said. |

Dirk Pitt would have stuffed that hole with a potato and continued the cruise! t:

Both of the reports I've read on this indicate that the ship's pumps are staying ahead of the leak. Seems like they're using the word "sinking" pretty liberally. Maybe the headline reads better that way.
BTW, I shall have to add Tony's potato patch to the NUMA Survival Guide I;m working on.

At least they didn't moore it under a glacier
And whose fist are they talking about...a regular man or Andre the Giant?...I wouldn't think a small hole like that would sink something that big....

They showed this on the news tonight and they also said it was a fist sized hole. The video they showed of the ship looked to be at a 50 degree list. It seems with the compartmentalization there is no way with that size hole that it should put a ship that size in danger especially with decent pumps. Plus it would be relatively easy to patch and shore a hole up. There is something more going on there than what we are being told. I just hope the ship doesn't sink. All the fuel and oil would spill out of the tanks and there is no environmental protection equipment in that area.
