The new prime minister says he'll pull the Australian combat troops out of Iraq and also get rid of controversial work place agreements that have deprived Australian workers of overtime rates and holidays.

We should follow suit and sign the Kyoto Accords too but our current President is too stupid to do so. Hopefully the next President of the U.S. will sign on the dotted line with the Climate Change Policies. Congratulations to our Aussie friends in practicing democracy and electing their next Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd. w: b:

We have signed Kyoto but refuse to ratify it as it doesn't make China and India cut down on their emissions.

It was time for Howard to go - especially after the introduction of the new workplace laws. It is still a big disappointment that it was an election too late, and that the Libs had the balance of power in the Senate for the last 3 years which meant that Howard was able to bring in his work choices - which he had talked about doing long before he ever came to power.
Although both major parties are not great on the environment, as seen from the recent acceptance by both of a pulp mill in Tassie, the Labs seem to be the better of two evils, and some Green power in the Seanate should see a better deal for the environment. th:
