Title: Ok fellow slueths ..... Chase it up!

DirkPitt - November 29, 2007 01:49 PM (GMT)
Lets see how fast we can get a definitive answer. I'm sure a few members here will send off emails to various connections. ;)

Some Cussler fans are aware of the fact that DuBrul's name has been left off the page in the "Chase" book where all of Cussler's previous books are mentioned. Only Dirgo gets the accolades for all the books in the Oregon File series. So I now ask the question ...

DuBrul's name was left off the credits in Cussler's latest book, "The Chase" for which reason?

1. A stupid mistake by the publisher?

2. A falling out with DuBrul?

or 3. Craig Dirgo was in charge of proof-reading the credit pages? ;)

Can anybody else come up with any other reasons? det:

It's a conspiracy by Nick Kitt to get us all to focus on the book and not what a crappy movie Sahara was?
Or maybe it's Clives way of making sure WE are all paying attention

Probably just a mistake.....there are a few of them inside too

Although if Jack's name doesn't appear on Plague Ship then I might suggest a rift between the 2

Continued gross incompetence by the editors who have stopped paying attention to anything written with Clive's name on it. The books of the past 5-10 years have had such egregious errors it's beginning to stop being funny.

Ace Roberts - November 29, 2007 09:55 PM (GMT)
The editors were all shipped out to sea on the Plague Ship (Clive & Jack's new book coming out late spring) and left to rot away from the viral strain.

Lat - November 30, 2007 09:46 AM (GMT)
The fact that one co-author was responsible for some Oregon files, and another co-author for the rest was just too complicated for someone.

The Plague ship audio's on Amazon.com carry Jack's name as well.

Ace, I wonder how many authors would like to that to their editors.... :D

Just so everyone knows - the issue with the misprint was an error. There is NOT a falling out of any kind between Clive & Jack. Some people (unfortunately I'm not one.. hint, hint, beg, beg) got advance copies of Clive's & Jack's new book this week - Plague Ship - the cover art (which is magnificent by the way) has both authors name on it. On top of that - Jack is already being pressured by the publishers for the next book which hopefully will NOT affect him writing the next Mercer book.

So no conspiracy, huh?

Thanks for the info!

I've fired off an email to Clive's publicist at Penguin asking what happened. If I hear back on the subject, I'll post it.

Forget The Chase and Plague Ship... I want someone to explain this list on Wikipedia. Scroll down to the last on the list.

Random Cabodda (December 2007 - January 2008)

Random Cabodda??? Is this a joke? An anagram? Some kind of technical word from the publishing industry? I tried to look up "Cabodda" but it seems to be a Hapax Legomenon (look that one up.)

This is the real mystery.

Since Amazon.com does not list a Dirk Pitt release for Dec 2007-Jan 2008, my guess is

a. Someone had a sock-smoking session and then decided to edit Wikipedia

or

b. The entry is on the wrong place.

Oi, but it will. It already has. The ratio is one to three.

Ace Roberts received this bit of news from Dirk Cussler directly – he is unable to post from work and asked me to relay the message for him.

As for the title for the next Pitt book, I can tell with certainty that it hasn't been named yet (still a long ways to go), but that when it does, it will not be named Random Cabodda!

Tell Dirk that the title "Random Cabodda" is gaining widespread grass roots popularity on book forums and would be a wise choice for his next book. :)

I don't like that name for Clive's new book. It doesn't make me think of adventure. His titles always seem to fit the book. I trust him to pick the right one.

So I was making a list of the Cussler books I've read and need to get and came across two books that Clive is supposedly working on? Plague Ship and Random Cabodda? I was all excited and going to break the news, but I saw that it’s already been talked about here.

I couldn’t find anything on Random Cabodda, other than a page on Amazon. This is all I could find about Plague Ship

Plague Ship ISBN: 9780399154973 putnam publishing group, Oregon Files series 528pgs
Anyone know anything more about these two books?

Ah - there are several threads already on this forum about the next Oregon Files book written by Jack Du Brul, titled Plague Ship. It is scheduled to publish in June - and will be the first Oregon File's book to be released in hardback.

As far as Random Cabadda goes - who knows? The one thing we do know is it is NOT the next Dirk Pitt book. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Maybe in the USA but not over here in the UK.

Several of my Oregon files books are 1st Ed H/copys.
