I did speak with him.
I had been to his house a few weeks ago to pick up all the foreign editions of his books that I sell & also about 5 cases of The Navigator which I had posted here for sale, ($5.00@) but the post was deleted.
Anyway, I went to say hello & had to remind him of who I was (to be expected) & I also asked if he was coming to our big fundraiser on Thur evening & Friday afternoon, which he usually attends.
Also met his significant other who told me they were leaving for San Fran early Fri morn so they couldn't attend.
She was quite lovely & told me to please remember them for next year, which of course we will invite him again.
They had an auction at this event & he bid on & won a bottle of LaFitte Rothschild wine.
One of the women at my table, who I just met, mentioned that she was a big reader. I asked her if she read him & she said yes. She had no idea that it was him at the next table & was quite excited when I pointed him out.
I think most people did not know who he was & it's pretty neat that he can just mingle & not be bugged by people.

You are one lucky guy to have met Clive. I feel like I have every time I read one of his books. I re-read them all the time. I have all in hardcopy and once I am thru them all I just start over again. It takes years to go thru them all, but worth every single minute of it. w:
