Title: A little something I made in MS Paint
Description: Panzerschiffe Admiral Graf Spee

BIG RED - March 6, 2008 06:21 AM (GMT)
Hi guys, I know it's been years since you saw me last, but I figured I share a little piece of artwork I just finished after about a week of work:

I'm sure most, if not all of you are familiar with this ship's history, so I won't go into details:

Well done, mate, I did something similar with a Ticonderoga class cruiser years ago.

A very famous ship and, for a ship that was effectively destroyed, pleasing that some parts of her have been recovered from Montevideo harbour.

Great film too - The Battle of the River Plate.

BIG RED!! Good to see you back! beer:

Just last week I sat glued to the TV watching a doco on the River Plate battle. Man, that pocket battleship had those 3 cruisers on the ropes! Bigger than anything faster and faster than anything bigger. ;) Awesome artwork for an awesome ship!

Thanks for sharing. th:

Thanks for the replies guys. I first drew this about a year ago, but put it aside (other things came up) and never came back to it. About a week ago, I was deleting some pictures that I no longer wanted and stumbled across my drawing of the Graf. I decided to finsh it off, and this was the result.

I also heard that the Town of Ajax, Ontario (Named for one of Commodore Harwood's ships) recently named a road "Hans Langsdorff Drive". Quite an honor. th:

Here's another one I did:

Getting out of the naval aspects for a moment, here's a P-38J flown by Major Richard Bong, "America's Ace of Aces" in WWII.
