Mike

slowhandshodges - February 28, 2004 10:17 PM (GMT)
All of them (including the other Numa series books); and starting with Night Probe; all in first release hardback editions. I just can't wait a whole year for the books to come out in paperback. Got to scour the garage sales for the rest of the hardbacks!

Loren - February 28, 2004 10:31 PM (GMT)
:D The Med. Caper, Iceberg, Raise the Titanic, Vixen 03, Night Probe, Pacific Vortex, Deep Six, Cyclops, Treasure, Dragon, Sahara, Inca Gold, Shock Wave, The Sea Hunters, Flood Tide, Dirk Pitt Revealed, Atlantis Found, Serpent, Blue Gold, Valhalla Rising, Fire Ice, White Death, Trojan Odyssey, Golden Buddha, The Collections Guide to Clive Cussler, and The Sea Hunters II.

I am missing Mayday!! :(

Cussler Fanatic - February 28, 2004 11:00 PM (GMT)
All the hardbacks Plus a "Like New" Dodd Mead. My favorite!!!

DirkPitt - February 28, 2004 11:24 PM (GMT)
Welcome Cussler Fanatic !!

ahhh ... the mere mention of "Iceberg by Dodd Mead" wakes me up !

but alas the prices have fallen somewhat ... I'll give you $20 for your copy ;)

AlGiordino - February 29, 2004 12:40 AM (GMT)
All but Kurt Austins... :D

Cyclops - February 29, 2004 11:28 PM (GMT)
I own all of Cussler's work. I have everything in hardback except the few things only published in softback. I live in Columbus, Ohio and there are many used books stores where one can find all the Cussler stuff from Mediterranean Caper to Seahunters. Hardbacks in the older Pitt stuff are tough to come by, especially firsts.

Marribiuz - February 29, 2004 11:31 PM (GMT)
Most of DP, some of KA. Couple hardbacks, mostly paperback.
I want to own all hardbacks one day, but thats when I am financially stable....

Loren - February 29, 2004 11:34 PM (GMT)
Hi Cyclops, your right, Clive's older books are hard to come by. I managed to get them all. Now I am working on BR editions, to finish my collection. :D

ssgregory2004 - February 29, 2004 02:45 AM (GMT)
Can somebody tell me what are the top ten books that Clive Cussler has ever written.Because i'm intereted in collecting some of them.... :D :P

david - February 29, 2004 03:03 AM (GMT)
I have recently picked up several more but need some of the rarer ones so far I have Vahalla Rising, Atlantis found, Flood Tide, Shock Wave, Inca Gold, Sahara, Treasure, Cyclops, Night Probe, RAise the Titanic, Iceberg, and Mediterranean caper also all the non Dirk Pitt adventures most are the large size hard backs I am looking for several still in the large size that I do not have .

Loren - February 29, 2004 03:11 AM (GMT)
Hi ssgregory2004, I have a post on this page, All the books I wrote down are all in order! :P enjoy!

Foss Gly - March 1, 2004 01:44 AM (GMT)
I have all of them, and a couple of different ones of some.

Nic0demus - March 1, 2004 02:15 AM (GMT)
yeah, i think i own all but golden buddha, currently on rent from the library...pretty good for someone who usually only buys books from guys like brian jacques...

HalaKamil - March 1, 2004 03:43 AM (GMT)
Sahara (hooked me), Pacific Vortex, Treasure, Vahalla Rising, Shock Wave, Inca Gold, Raise the Titanic, and my latest acquisition, The Sea Hunters II. I am looking for a first edition of Mediterranean Cape and Sahara. Thanks Loren for putting the books in order. I would like to grow with Pitt. :)

Cusslermen - March 1, 2004 04:04 AM (GMT)
I have many different versions and languages of all of them... enough to know that collecting Cussler books and memorabilia is an addiction.

Loren.
Always thought that although I don't think it was the first written P V was where it all started I have read an artical from CC about R T Titanic saying how P Vortex would have been the best starting block for films but wasn't exciting enough thus Titanic became the chosen one I will look out the piece. Also there seems to be lots of info on the caracters in P Vortex sort of laying the foundations for the series.
Please if n e 1 can set me straight feel free.
Lee

Oopss forgot to say I got em all to, Hard backs and paper just lucky I suppose.

dachstratton - March 2, 2004 03:23 AM (GMT)
I own all of them. I have several different versions of Raise the Titanic! One first edition hb. Not a real collector. I just like having them at my fingertips if I decide to read an old one. I read mediteranean caper before Trojan Odyssey. I think I will read Sahara again before the movie comes out so I have it fresh in my mind. I have all the kurt austin books but haven't read one yet. maybe someone can give me some feedback on those. I bought the Golden Budha, haven't read it yet. Like I said, I have the library of CC, but all I have read are all the Dirk novels.

Hi Lee,
I was alittle confused at first...but as DirkPitt explained it to me, Pacific Vortex was the first book Clive wrote, but it was the 6th novel to be published.

Raess - March 2, 2004 05:02 AM (GMT)
All Dirk Pitt and Kurt Austin books - excluding Sea Hunters I & II, White Death and Golden Buddha. I am a little behind on my reading.

All hardcovers, cannot stand waiting so long for paperbacks.

Teaser - March 2, 2004 08:15 PM (GMT)
Thankyou lovely Lady for setting me straight, DirkPitt sorry to ask so many silly questions but why write it first but make it the 6th in the series, did Mr C feel he needed to introduce readers to Dirk and Al better? Or was there a different reason.
I'm always interested in n e thing to better my knowledge.

Teaser - March 2, 2004 08:19 PM (GMT)
dachstratton, I have also read all of the Kurt novels plaus Golden Budda.
I'm a Dirk fan through and through but did feel that in later novels it was possibly time for the guys to step aside, I'm confident in saying that it couldn't be to a better team than Kurts, keep an open mind there a new team following in big foot steps, definatly worth the read!!!!!!!!!!

Dagaz - March 3, 2004 12:40 AM (GMT)
i think i have all of them except for serpent and the sea hunters and any of the kurt austin books. i've read all of the dirk pitt series and a few of the kurt austin books

[/QUOTE] Smile, it improves your face value :D

DirkPitt - March 3, 2004 11:24 AM (GMT)

Teaser,

That's not a silly question.

From memory, Clive wrote Pacific Vortex back in 1965. He tried unsuccessfully to get it published. He then wrote Mediterranean Caper and Pyramid books published that in 1973. Years later as his books became popular, he mentioned to his publisher at the time that he had another Dirk Pitt adventure hiding away in his wardrobe. The guy's jaw dropped and demanded that Clive pull out the old manuscript out and hand it over. So Clive blew off the dust and rewrote parts of the original Pacific Vortex and handed it over to Bantam for publication in Jan. 1983. after Night Probe.

So thats how the Dirk Pitt books were printed out of order.

Cheers ... ;)

mr periwinkle - March 7, 2004 11:11 AM (GMT)
I have all Clive Cussler books in hardcover 1st US editions, and only the paperbacks that weren't released in hardcover like med caper 1973 and pacific vortex. Also have a few rarer uk copies.Eg h/c pacific vortex and iceberg. With living in Australia most were hard to come by,so i treasure them greatly.

kujo54 - March 7, 2004 11:20 PM (GMT)
I have all of CC's books, and have read all the Dirk Pitt books several times.
The Kurt Auston books and Golden Buddha only once. They're just not as good.

mm6mm6 - March 9, 2004 01:33 AM (GMT)
I have collected in other hobbies over time.

I promised myself not to go overboard with Cussler's books.

But....

My collection includes US first edition hardbounds of all (including non-fiction and Dirgo/Kemprecos editions) CC's books except Med Caper and Iceberg.

I do have one ARC of Atlantis Found which was a wonderful gift from a fellow CC collector. And I have Pacific Vortex and Golden Buddha hardbound special editions.

Well, I can't hope to compete with true collectors like mm6mm6, however I do
have a signed copy of Trojan Odyssey.
I knew Clive was going to be in Albaquerque the day before Thanksgiving, and
also knew I would be unable to make it to the book signing. What to do? Well,
it just so happens that I have a lady friend who lives there. I e-mailed her and
asked if she would be so kind as to go to the book signing and pick up a copy for
me. She agreed, and while she was in line, started reading my copy. She got
hooked and bought one for herself. So now we have another convert on our hands.
And for doing me such a special favor I now count her among my super heros.
She gets embarrassed when I call her that, but there you have it.

boissee - March 13, 2004 12:47 AM (GMT)
I have all Clive's books including Austins. I have read most of the books multiple times. I need to get new copies of some of them though. I mistakenly lent them to someone to read and her kid ripped off some of the covers! The first CC book I read was Raise the Titanic! when I was 14, many moons ago. I read it because it had to do with the Titanic, not because it was CC, however, it created a monster because he shared my avid interest in shipwrecks, my fave being the Titanic. I own quite an extensive collection of Titanic items. I'm finally now able to display them proudly in my newly finished basement which we turned into a British Pub. :D I find the Austin books good, but am having trouble with White Death. I was skeptical at first, who could ever replace Dirk Pitt? It's a good read though because after all it was written by CC! Just ordered GB and TO and pre-ordered Lost City. I also Have the both Sea Hunters books and the Guide to Clive Cussler and Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt Revealed.

DirkPitt - March 13, 2004 01:01 AM (GMT)
Welcome boissee !!

boissee,

Fantastic Avatar by the way ! I believe thats the first black and white Avatar on the forum. Which leg of the Titanic's maiden voyage was that photo taken ?

Cheers

boissee - March 13, 2004 02:24 AM (GMT)
I believe it is the Cherbourg to Queenstown leg. :D

ChadH - March 13, 2004 03:25 AM (GMT)
I grew up reading Cussler novels, because he was my dad's favorite author, (and became my favorite too) and I was lucky enough that he gave me a complete collection of US first edition hardbacks, for a wedding anniversary gift. :D

Yes, I'm with Arvada CO department.

jet_doctor - March 13, 2004 03:39 PM (GMT)
Welcome Chad!! My dad was a City of Chicago firefighter for 29 years. He always had exciting stories to tell.

I started out with paperbacks and then on to the hardcovers. I have since replaced all the paperbacks and now am very fortunate to have a full US 1st/1st collection, different versions of some of them, ARC's, foreign copies and some rare ones as well.
