I've been tossing up whether to buy an aquarium for the family. Anyone out there have unusual fish or tank decorations?

My kids want an aquarium too Tony. Just haven't decided whether to do fresh water or salt. If I do salt, my brother in Florida has all kinds of connections to get me some rare tropicals. He's got 5, 100 gallon plus tanks in his house and each of them have the most beautiful live coral, anemone's (sp?) and rare fish.

I thought I had some pictures of them to show, but can't find them. If I locate them, I'll be sure to post them here.

Speaking of cool stuff to put in an aquarium... wouldn't it be cool to have a mock up of a NUMA sub or model diver that has the "NUMA" logo on his wet suit to put in the tank? Or even a model Hunley to bury in the sand or rock at the bottom of the tank. snor:

All these ideas have inspired me! Go for it Tony, and be sure to have a diver floating around in the tank!! snor:

Now that would be a GREAT conversation piece, but to have it to scale, it would take up an entire wall!!! A aquarium is a super idea and i'm sure the entire family would enjoy it. I do recommend you start small as they do take some maintanence. You can always upgrade to a larger tank later after you see whats involved. Good luck and enjoy. leo

Actually it is better to start large, most recomend at least 50 gallons for your first tank. the reason for this is that the larger tanks have more water and they are easier to keep stable. If you make a small mistake in a big tank you will probably be ok, but if you make a small mistake in a small aquarium it can be a disaster.
