That is really neat! The background information is interesting :)

This is a post that I put in the Atlantis Found? section, and just happen to find this section a few minutes there after.

I understand that everyone who reads this section has an interest in the Lost City of Atlantis, but I am soliciting serious request for information regarding another site that I recently learned of and currently researching into that though, is similar to Atlantis has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Unfortunately, not many people have ever heard of this place and those who have, disregard it, and for a very good reason. (according to my research) Of the few scientist that have given this area notice, very few has given it any merit, and most scientist disregard it as a natural formation.
However, after further investigation, I have learned not just of this site, but others like it around the first spot spanning a distance of roughly 800-1000 square miles.
The major factor in the authenticity of the site lies not with the site itself but with the age of the site. Unfortunately dating the site itself is next to impossible because of the location. Which presents a large problem that ties into the answer to the first.

I have reviewed the TEAM ATLANTIS website and checked Mr. Michael Arbuthnot's findings against my own. Amazingly, with the exception of a few minor details, which is mainly my own lack of materials, our findings are remarkabely similar.

Unfortuntely, I personally have yet to dive at that site, but however intend to go during the summer of 2005, if not earlier. However I have spoken with various people who have dived at the site and gathered as much information from them as possible to conduct a investigation.

If anyone is interested in this subject and wants to continue this discussion then I can be better reached at the following e-mail address christopherg@ctf76.navy.mil Also if anyone would like I can continue to post my finding here since I live on Okinawa-Jima, and within proximity of Yonaguni-jima and other similar sites like it around the Ryuku islands.

Respectfully,
Zuriel

Does anyone have any good sources on the last Ice Age?

Plus, does anyone know of where I can get information on the size and volume of the worlds ocean?

Trying to work on the flood aspect of Yonaguni, since the date fo the site is in question, then trying to idenify the end of the Ice Age and obtain evidence of a actual Flood that happened afterwords.

Not only does the "west" have its legends of Atlantis, but Southeast Asia has its own legends of a similar place that sank beneath the waves thousands of years ago. Both in the Indian Ocean and around the Pacific rim.

Of all of these legends, every one of them speaks of a flood and the ocean rsising before recorded history.

Though Atlantis itself is more than likely not a real city, but maybe more along the lines of a small island. There is evidence that supports a cataclysmic Flood* that happened sometime shortly after the last Ice Age (roughly 10,000-12,000 years ago)

Unfortuntely, the Yonaguni ruins and legend is similar to the Atlantis Legends, and therefore, it taints the whole validity of the site to alot of professional scientist.

*Please note that after the last Ice Age the Earth was changing and the ocean was still settling, so this Flood could have lasted over the course of a 100-1000 years; or it might have lasted 40 days and 40 nights. These are only theories. Please take these statements witha grain of salt.

Zuriel I assume you have done a search online. Have you tried certain databases that are included in the national archives of different countries along with premium online databases. Maybe even the navies of the U.S. and other countries. And then there are universities that have voluminous libraries and don't forget the oceanographic organizations that have knowledge on the subjects. There are a few companies that devote themselves to oceanographic research that could have information too. Hope this will help you. I remember a show here in the U.S. that may be about what you are looking into about a possible atlantis like civilization near japan. If you could find info on that show that might be of help . I wish i can remember the name of that show. Good Luck in your research!!!

Tony,

Thank you.

In terms of research material, and sources, there is an abundance of data here on Okinawa. The lead Archaeologist that has the most information on the site, and has obviously done the most research is Japan and spends alot of time here at the Ryuku Unniversity in Urasoe City on Okinawa.

My first search was in the data base of the U.S. Navy; but however I cannot go into further details due to obvious reasons.

I am also collaborating with several professional divers here on the island that offer trips down to Yonaguni, and along with the Unniversity here to set up a trip to the island around January time frame.

Currently, I am searching oceanographic databases for topics concerning total suface of the ocean, and related subjects.

Because my funds are limited, I am working that angle and hopefully it will be productive and worthwhile to the Yonaguni research till I can get down there in January.
