#830 here...great idea! I have always wondered if maybe Cussler was waiting until he was allowed to write the screenplays before giving permission for more films to be made.

#838 here...

I'm number 14!

I hope that they come to a settlement that satisfies Dr. Cussler.

It's up to 843, which isn't too bad, I suppose (how many people are there on the S&S group - anybody know?), and it has helped to get some of our concerns into the public domain (LA Times article etc) but it is a drop in the ocean against the 100s of millions of cussler fans, and dollars Hollywood is reputed to be putting into the film.

There has been much discussion here and elsewhere regarding the differences between Clive and Crusader, and we will probably never know the truth, or who will prevail until after the film is released (IF it is released). But whatever happens, I will probably watch the film, maybe even enjoy it, but continue to wonder why they needed to change so much of the story (if the reports I've seen are true) so much for so little reason.

In the end though, I will go back to the book, and read it fore the umpteenth time because lets face it, It IS a damn good story! :D

regards,

Martyn

 They'd be out of there league if they didn't let cussler write the screen play!!! If they don't they better do a whole lot better than "Raise the Titantic"

Chairman - March 7, 2004 03:39 AM (GMT)
THE CHAIRMAN HERE. I made 862 on the signatures. thanks so much for getting this petition started. it is important that the stories stay true. we want people who have not read the books, go see the movie and know that the story is right from the book. we want them walking away thinking, " I need to buy this guy's books"

rudi gunn - March 9, 2004 03:48 AM (GMT)
Well I am 872---lets keep our fingers crossed-------

kujo54 - March 10, 2004 04:44 AM (GMT)
#873 Judging by the reports and proposed plot lines I've read, it seems obvious
that if Dr. Cussler is not given the final approval of the script they will ruin it.
I agree 100% that he should write the screenplay.

Thanks you for the opportunity to sign. What Hollywood does to the great author is appaling. During a signing with James Patterson, he made the comment that he meet a young lady who was very rpoud to meet "the author " of the movie she was working on. He asked her what role she was playing. She told me that she was Alec Cross's sister. Patterson smiled and walked away thinking...I wrote this story and Alex's does NOT have a sister. There are many other movies in which those people in Hollywood as screwed up the plot or characters. Let's us hope that nothing will happen to any of the works of Cussler.

Isn't the movie almost completely finished?? if so and Clive wins the suit..the entire thing (including the millions put into it) will be lost..and I doubt they'll remake it. Which stinks...I'm not done reading Sahara (actually reading where The Kid comes into play right now) but it is a great book so far and its too bad that they've cut everything out.

I'll sign tomorrow...my computer is acting up tonight.
