The rule of thumb is ... if you sleep with Dirk Pitt, expect to be abducted!

Just off the top of my head I can recall Loren being abducted in Dragon, Cyclops, and Inca Gold. w:

kidnapping a woman has become a staple in many a story.

Edgar Rice Burroughs also used the kidnapping or search for Jane in almost all of the 24 Tarzan books.It was one of his favorite devices in nearly every story some poor girl got napped.
