Title: A message from Clive

DirkPitt - August 24, 2004 11:15 PM (GMT)
Here's a message from Clive that was posted by his daughter on the Simon & Schuster site to all his fans and readers. You'll find some very interesting news here ;

Hello everyone,

Forgive the tardy response to all your questions. I love my readers because you are what keeps me in the saddle and writing.

Let's see. The law suit is in limbo. It won't go to court till next spring. The attorneys will be taking depositions next month, but beyond that I'm in the dark when it comes to legal proceedings.

No news on the movie except it's being cut by the director and edited. Have no idea how it turned out.

Just returned from the North Sea where my NUMA crew and I spent a month searching for John Paul Jones' ship the BONHOMME RICHARD. I'm sad to report we didn't find it, but will return again next year for another attempt. It's got to be there off Flamborough Head somewhere and I'm not giving up. It took 15 years off and on to find the HUNLEY. There are times my stubborn streak become agonizing, but it occasionally pays off.

It was fun working with my son Dirk on the new Pitt book Black Wind. Pitt's kids take on quite a bit of the story, but Dirk and Al still show up to save the day. I'm hoping this is the first of may Pitt adventures we can write together on.

The car this time is a 1958 Chrysler 300 convertible. Dirk really wrecks it in a grand chase while being shot at by the villains. The scene where he escapes onto a ferry is most exciting.

As you might have heard, Craig Dirgo wanted to concentrate on his own books and stepped aside. Jack Da Bruhl, a successful author of adventure tales in his own right, will be taking over the Oregon adventures.

Paul Kemprecos and our efforts on Lost City came out great and it is doing quite well on the Times list. I think you'll like it. Paul and I work together like brothers. He is a delight to write with and is genuine nice guy.

That's about all I've got for you, except to say I am in good health and still nasty.

God bless you all,

Clive Cussler

That was a great letter from Dr. Cussler. He answered most all of the questions that we had for him, Black Wind sure sounds exciting! Thank you Dr. Cussler for all of the work that you do. "I love my readers because you are what keeps me in the saddle and writing. "

I'll be interested to see how Jack Da Bruhl turns out.

Hopefully Dr. Cussler will have more luck with the Bonhomme Richard next time.

Nice to hear from THE MAN himself.
I bought Lost City as soon as it hit the stores, and loved it.
I am also a Jack DuBrul fan and have all his books too. He writes very much like
Cussler, so should do very well.

Deep Fire Rising or Pandoras Curse are good starting points

Thanks for asking that question, I too have loved the Oregon series so far, infact a friend has sent me a copy of Craig's 'The Einstein Papers' since I enjoyed Golden Buddha so much. So it'll be great to check out some of Jack's before he starts writing (or I get to read it, which ever comes first) with Clive.

Thanks for the titles Rob ;)

Hey! This is great!!

householdrob - March 1, 2005 03:13 AM (GMT)
THIS, this, is why I love the man. Because he gives a damn about his fans and does not sell out, as evident in the on going legal battle with bristol bay. Even though I am looking forward to seeing Dirk come alive again on the big screen, Clive is doing the right thing by standing up for his work as he always has. And hey, maybe now the next Oregon book will be worth putting on my shelf instead of making nice work as a doorstop. Thank you Dr. Cussler.
