$10 dollars? I'd say...buy it before he sells it to someone else :P

Is it plastic or resin?
If it's a resin kit $10 is a great price, but it requires special glue to put together.Resin is also very brittle and needs special care taken.
Plastic is much easier to work with.

Try your local hobby shops and ask for a magazine called Fine Scale Modeller.Even a publication called Scale Auto Enthusiast has articles covering working with resin.
They both have great how to articles.I think they both also have an after market directory where you can get alot of these models from the cottage industry

Quetico,
I bought one of the resin models a few months back, drove 60 miles back home, opened it up and took inventory of what was inside. What I found was a nice hull, some very small diameter metal tubes and a square piece of resin that was suppose to have all of the small peices attached (which allows you to cut them off and use them like a regular plastic model). ALL of the small pieces were incomplete. What I mean is, when they were pouring the mold, none of this section of small pieces received the full resin. They were so bad I was not able to use them. I contacted the company from the side of the box, the reply I received was that are not the actual company that makes the models but they have received 100's of complaints and he was not sure how to get in touch with the proper manufacturer. For $10 I concidered it the luck of the draw....
Before you make the purchase, ask the clerk or manager if you can open the box to take a peak at the pieces....
Hope this helps.
It does look like a cool model though
Take care
Mike

Quetico,
That sounds like a very relaxing vacation....I'm jealous. I do love to work on models....if they changed the length of days from 24 to 48 hours, I may just have enough time to do the things Ive been wanting to do... :) Can't wait to see the finished products.
Take care
Mike

I managed to find a couple of magazines that give you tips about working with resin and the types of glue you can use.
Would you like them?
If you do send me a PM with your address and I will send them to you.
Cheers Rob

hi all im back from vacation...had a great 2 weeks at my cottage did a llittle diving and got some cussler books read ... anyway I got that hunley model kit from my friend,,,wow what a piece of junk..half the molds were all messed up..needless to say i did not bother so i decided to make my own.. I carved one from a piece of pine and painted it..the only picture I had was the one from the sea hunters first book.. so I may not be completly acurate but I think it turned out ok for my first try . It is aprox. 16 inchs long . It took about 2 days off and on working on it . I took some pic i will post...hopefully they will come through..
