Title: Publishing Fan Fiction

Dumb idea, but think it would work if we put together a book of fan fiction written here and find a small publishing company to publish it? The profits can go to help the forum and NUMA... Just a thought.

I second that, we have great talent on board here and I am sure someone connected to this forum is or knows a person who could publish or assist in the process of publishing these works! p:

problem is that some of the stories will require some heavy editing and re-writes because of the use of copyrighted characters. Great Idea though.

With Dr. C's permission I Think it could be possible to put out a collection of fan fiction tales of NUMA and it could be a money maker for both this site and possibly small royalties for each contributor. Just my 25 cents worth of thought! w:

What about benefiting NUMA? Personally, I would rather have my profits go to NUMA, but that's just me.

I see this is kind of an old post, but it's an idea I have been kicking aound a little too.
It might be tough to produce a true "book" given the quirks of the publishing industry, but another option might be a "not for profit" periodical digest, available in PDF or paperback shipable format.
I couldn't begin to imagine how to manage all this, but there is something like it among the Tomb Raider fans--a fan art and comic book release. By keeping it non-profit, all proceeds go to production costs--they were able to make a comfortable arrangement with the owners of the copyrights. I imagine something similar could be done with NUMA characters and of course, the organization itself.
It is a lot easier to get a magazine style publication printed than a bound book, but I definitely think it's doable.
For my own part, I would happily generate content for the sake of publicity for my other projects.

Whether it's non or for profit it would be worth seeing it published!! w:

A Fanzine would be the only way I would think this project could get off the ground and even then I think you have to have Clive Cussler's permission, but I'm not sure. You can do a web search on Fanzine and see if you can find out how to do it. I know that it has been done with Highlander and several other fandoms.

What ever happened with this idea? I saw that there's a Code book, but what about this? I bet if the profit went to NUMA Dr. Clive would be okay with it.
How about a self published book? You can still collect royalties and even have a print on demand contract. From reading things on this forum, it sound like we have a few aspiring authors here... that said, even if all the profit is going to NUMA, having some of your work published would be a nice ego boost.
