Title: So how many more?

Marribiuz - March 1, 2004 04:35 PM (GMT)
How many more pure CC DP books do you think we might get in the future?

TO was already tainted a bit imho. But I hope for a renewed strength for CC, and that he will still put out his best book ever before calling it quits!

Newspaper Headline in the future:

"The Grandmaster Clive Cussler retires after publishing his last, but no means least action novel featuring Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino"

&

"Critics say this book to be the best work ever from Clive Cussler!!!"

I like your positive thinking!!! What a great FAN :D

"The Grandmaster Clive Cussler retires after publishing his last, but no means least action novel featuring Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino"
"....but his son Dirk Cussler is going to continue his father's work in the near future."

Now that's what I want to see

Well, that remains to be seen. I hope he can fill his fathers rather large shoes.

Well since no one else is brave (or daft) enough to throw out a figure I will.

I am hoping for two more awesome DP books, where I would love to see the following happen:

Book 1 (The next book). Dirk Jr, and Summer get killed by Summer's (seniors) father, and DP sets out with Al to revenge their death, and discover and spoil the father's evil twisted egomanical psycho plan.

other non-tainted books in between.....

Book 2. At the end of this book Dirk Pitt gets taken out in the most unbelievable way, with the most unbelievable twist. "AL KILLS DIRK" ??????? or something else to that extent, that causes the breaking of the fellowship.

I stand my ground on, that a legend like Dirk Pitt, deserves and demands a hero's death!!!

While certainly interesting ideas, Marribiuz, I seriously have my doubts anything of the sort would happen...Dirk Cussler will likely continue the adventures of Dirk Pitt Jr, and Clive's fans would be positively outraged by having Al turn on Dirk. Plus the fact that it would diminish the meaning of their friendship all these decades!

Hey Marribiuz,

Hows your day going ?

I'd describe your scenarios as "Gung Ho" to say the least. Like Foss Gly suggested, I can't see anything of the kind happening. Anything like that would seriously go against the trends set in any Clive cussler book ever written.

Cheers ;)

Hehehe!

But i stronlgy iterate:

a legend like Dirk Pitt, deserves and demands a heros death!!! to end the series, and not to be spoiled by ever demeaning and lesser stories that are not up to par. Let Dirk Cussler have Dork Jr, and allow Dirk Pitt to have the send off he deserves.

My two cents worth. (Thats € cents, so thats about 2.5 US Cents, and 4 AUS cents)

I wont back down, you can stand me up at the gates of hell, but I wont back down - Tom Petty

:D
Dirk already died a hero's death, in Dragon. Problem was everyone knew it but him!

:o Where did you read this article on Clive retiring> Is he really gonna leave us hanging? I cant imagine a world without Dirk, I love him! I have the Trojan Oddessy, is this his last book??

jet_doctor - March 22, 2004 05:27 AM (GMT)
Its been said by Clive and and by Carole Bartholomeaux, his former publicist, he has no intention of retiring any time soon, so I think we can all breath easy for a while with regard to our future Dirk Pitt books.

Nic0demus - March 22, 2004 09:11 PM (GMT)
Breath easy and start anticipating, of course...

I believe Carole stated that Clive had 9 books in the queue. It didn't say whether some of those 9 were Numa Files or Oregon Files books, or pure Dirk & Al. Either way, we should have a bit of reading yet to come...

WOW!!! marribiuz, a hero's death. I hope it doesn't happen. I really hate to cry. After all he's done for his world he deserves to finish his life and enjoy his wife and children.th:

Wow Marribuz sounds like someone could use some anger management. As far as the continuation of the Dirk Pitt novels. Clive has said that Dirk is a better writer than him but, that he (Clive) has a better imagination.

I would love to see the good Dr. keep writing forever but thats not going to happen. If he is going to stop I would like him to stop while he is on top, so to speak.
A lot of authors keep writing just for the sake of keeping their name out there and the quality of the novels seem to go down measurably.
Unfortunately Burroughs was one of those. He wanted to stop the Tarzan series after the second book, but was forced into writing a further 22 novels because the demand was there. Unfortunately the series suffered from it. How many lost cities are there in Africa anyway.
I hope Clive doesnt end up like that. Although I would still buy the books!

;)

If he stays healty for a few years yet anywhere from 3 to 5 DP books and 1 KA and 1 more Oregon Files. And my idea of Paul and Gamay having their own adventures. w:
