I just thought i'de mention that in Flood Tide, Morton Laird, the president's right hand man was one of my favorite minor characters. I truly felt sorry for him when he resigned and went to Australia with his family and wrote his memoirs. This was just another example of a well drawn character who did not have a major role, I really identified with him, and enjoyed his brief presence in the book. If only president Wallace listened to his advice.
What about Harold Wismer? He was another Presidential adviser.
Who was the adviser that Admiral Sandecker threatened to "ring your doorbell one night and when you answer I will rip out your liver" ?
