Description: read this book!

Okay, I've always been a DP fan and I'll read any novel Clive writes. I've even read the Sea Hunters books because that stuff is really cool too, but I had pretty much written off CC & DP Revealed. I thumbed through it once and thought "All this stuff is already in the novels."
I won't go into what prompted me to actually go buy it recently, but I am blown away by the Cussler-Dirgo interview, which basically amounts to Clive's autobiography. I thought I had a pretty good handle on Clive's life story, but there's so much more to it than I had realized. Especially speaking as an author, I was amazed at Clive's stories of the early days, when he had three completed Dirk Pitt novels, and no one would publish him. Can you imagine an editor REJECTING Raise the Titanic?
Clive's eleven year journey to get Dirk Pitt into print is inspiring. Read this book!

I really didn't like Sacred Stone. I have loved Clive Cussler for a long time and it takes some serious efforts for me not to like one. I agree that Clive Cussler could not possibly have had a large part in writing a book this bad. There are way to many characters to keep strait and the bad guy is not developed at all. The story was just to hard to keep strait. All considered, a reallt boring book.

Dir Pitt Revealed is a good Book. I bought it when it first came out, aand was a little disappointed that it wasn't a novel. After reading it I came to understand wahat it took for Dr. Cussler to give us the books we enjoy today. Another man might not have gone to the lengths he did to publish his work and we would have been the losers. It's also a great place to get quick answers for the games. th: th:

I think by reading the posts here that I am going to have to go and buy Dirk Pitt Revealed it appears as though it gives you a much better idea of what CC had to go through to get his books on the shelf.
Thanks for the Info guys th:

Does anyone know if there will be a 2nd Dirk Pitt Revealed?

I liked it too. Particularly the 'reunion' part. Took me about two pages to realize the 'guest' was CC. I agree the interview was fascinating too.

Movies never do justice to books. RTT is an excellent book and nothing like the movie which I agree was HORRIBLE! yike:

Certainly a lot has changed since the interview took place. I felt so full of dramatic irony when I was reading it, knowing what the future held for Clive back then. He comments on not wanting to make another movie, and wanting script and casting approval if he did. He also wouldn't want a typical car-chase special effects movie. Hmm. Hehe.
****POTENTIAL SPOILER BELOW****
He also said in the interview that he didn't think Dirk would ever get married. Two of Pitt's loves died at the end of books, and (my beloved) Loren Smith had rejected an earlier offer of marriage. It was weird to read of Clive talking about that while I knew that they are now married. Like I said, dramatic irony (when the reader/viewer knows something the character does not, right?).

Julie was SOO kind and let me have an extra copy she had, so perhaps others on the forum have an extra around too. Good luck!
