Title: Panthers Win Game 2
Description: Take 2-0 Lead

Panthers GM - June 18, 2004 03:35 PM (GMT)
SUNRISE, FL - The Florida Panthers are halfway through the first round after winning Game 2 last night at home. The score was a repeat from Game 1, with the Panthers taking it 3-1 in both games.

Florida came out strong in the 1st period, with Ladislav Nagy and Raffi Torres both netting a goal. Andy Delmore scored on the powerplay near the halfway point of the game to close out Florida's scoring. The lone goal for Toronto came near the start of the 3rd period when Sergei Krivokrasov scored on a quick snapshot during the powerplay.

The Panthers defense played well again, holding Toronto to fewer than 20 shots in the game. "I think we played well, but we could have been better." said center John Madden, "If we would have been better on the PK, we might have had a shutout."

Scoring has been very spread out so far, with all 6 goals coming from different players. "We like that," said forward Olli Jokinen, "I think it shows that we don't need to depend on one player for all of our goals, so teams can't key on one line against us, they have to be scared of every line we put on the ice... and they should be!" joked the center.

Game 3 will move north to Toronto on Saturday night, and can be seen on ESPN2.
