This award will be given monthly to the player (at any position) who is judged best (from a mathimatical formula using statistics), who must have played or started in atleast 5 games. Barrasso went 5-0-1 in the 9 games he played this month. He recored a shut out, and had a save % of 0.913.
Runners up were goatender JS Giguere of the Pittsburgh Penguins (in 13 games: 10-3-0, 2 shutouts and a save % of 0.922) and Vancouver's left winger Brendan Shanahan (in 16 games: 9 goals, 13 assits for 22 points; +12; 25 PIM; 58 shots).

Sean Burke, Dallas Stars' number one goalie, has won this month's Player of the Month award. Burke is a large part of why Dallas is one of the leagues top teams. Burke had a record of 8-1-2 in the 12 games he played this month. He had a save % of 0.907.
Runners up were center Sergei Fedorov of the Nashville Predators (in 16 games: 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points; +9; 15 PIM; 52 shots) and Atlanta Thrasher's right winger Petr Sykora (in 15 games: 13 goals, 7 assits for 20 points; +11; 20 PIM; 49 shots).
