You Gotta Believe!!!!!!!!

After trailing the Ottawa Senators 3-0 in their Eastern Conference Finals series, the New Jersey Devils have stormed back with three straight victories of their own. Games 5 and 6 were both memorable contests as both games were decided by a single goal.

With the series shifting back to Ottawa for game 5, the Devils had nothing to smile about. They had been badly outplayed in three of the first four games and now travelled to Ottawa where they were 0-2 in the series. Things looked to get even worse as Ottawa scored thirty seconds into the game on a goal by Stillman. However, Derian Hatcher tied the game eight minutes into the second and then Cassels netted his ninth goal of the postseason with four and a half minutes left to give the Devils the lead for good. The Devils managed to hang on the rest of the way out as Turco finished the game with twenty-three saves.

The series shifted back to New Jersey for game 6 and the crowd was pumped and so were the Devils. Andrew Cassels, who has been on fire, scored three minutes into the contest to give New Jersey the 1-0 lead. However, they did not hold the lead for long as Ottawa scored twice to take a 2-1 lead into the locker room.

In the second period, Paul Kariya netted only his second goal of the postseason to tie the game at 2. The goal was a powerplay goal and Cassels and Sundin assisted on the play. Ottawa scored two quick goals and took the lead 4-2. With these two goals, Ottawa silenced the crowd until Sandy McCarthy of all people got New Jersey to within a goal. With less than two minutes to go, Cassels scored his second goal of the night and eleventh of the playoffs to tie the game at 4. The score remained that way until Peter Bondra scored a nice rebound goal with just over fifteen minutes left to seal the victory.

The Devils will now travel back to Ottawa and try to do one of the hardest things to accomplish in sports - come all the way back from a 3-0 deficit and win a playoff series. It all comes down to game seven and you gotta ask yourself - DO YOU BELIEVE?!?!?!?!?!
