Detroit- With the Stanley Cup finals over and player exit interviews completed the management of hte Detroit Red Wings knows the direction the team will head in.
"After all the exit interviews. I know where I want to go." General Manager Corey Stevens announced. "Some were good and some were so-so but to be in the playoffs after many thought we would be a lottery team at the start says a lot about our team."
The Red Wings have a plan and want to get into action on that plan. "I have a year experience with this team now since leaving San Jose and the guys on the roster are my guys now and I'm happy with that"
What the Red Wings will do is a secret to the public but management knows. "We have plans A-F already all mapped up. We need to shed $10 Million off our payroll before the UFA season starts and we know how we will do it. It is just a matter of doing it and that will happen with time. We have more then enough funds available and we can do our plan well."
About the draft:
"We won't be in the first round at all. It doesn't make sense for us to do that so we won't. The draft will have no impact on next season for us at all. We know where we stand and as a manager I am more perpared then ever before."
Time will tell what the Red Wings will do but one thing is for sure they already do know what they will do.
Sounds to me like DET is gonna try to stay a contender.............Mario scoring the goal that knocked me out of the playoffs still hurts though :(
