Red Wings Draft Update

Walking down the halls of the CTCHL Draft Red Wings General Manager Corey Stevens said the Red Wings. Have a specific plan and specific people they want. "If we were going to trade into the first round (Viktor) Kozlov was going to be the one we traded" As he explained his trade. "We have enough centers as it is and Kozlov just didn't fit into our long term plan. When we have Steve, Robert and Mario and with O'Sullivan in our system you never know what will happen with him this year." The Red Wings do need to re-sign Yzerman however.

"Matt (Barnaby) did well for us but we could not have him and Avery on our roster who are of the same type of player in a certain way. We wish Matt the best he did well in his year of service for us." The Red Wings say just like last season they are prepared. "We made a big splash last season in trading way up into the top 3. Not this year 17 is as high as we will go. We have two second rounders as well so I am ready to go."

When asked if others had called him about going higher up he smiled. "Of Course. They have a job to do and they are doing it. We have interest in it but we are fine and content with where we are at."

As The Goalie Turns

With Dominik Hasek, Manny Legace and Ty Conklin in the fold one has to wonder what the Red Wings will do with one of those. Hasek is a UFA, however. Reports say that the Red Wings have been telling teams making offers for both Legacve and Conklin that it won't happen because they are #1 and #2 next year. "Not true at all." Stevens said. "We just won't move a goalie because it Hasek leaves we don't wanna be caught looking at our asses to figure out what to do."
