Title: Rescue the Site

Soulz - August 5, 2005 09:47 PM (GMT)
Hello. ^^. Right, as many of you may have noticed, this site is starting to lose its popularity. There are like no posting going on anymore. Therefore, we are currently searching for ideas to keep this forum running. We believe an answer to this question may be a theme.

This is what we are looking for in ideas:

1. A kind of theme, or a topic of discussion
2. Any type of system in general that will promote this site's activity.

Please aid us in the recovery of this site.

~Thank you~

mmm...sorry, can't think of anything. Maybe we can start some contests? I would sugest a writing contest, because what OTHER kind of contests can you have online (aside from fanart), but with what members we have, louise would probably win every one. I suppose we could have a persuavise writing contest where you have to rely more on your opinions than just the way you word them. Anyway, that's all I got.

TinkerbeL - August 5, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
Thats good. Altho the satff wudnt particpate. Not the admins anyways.

Lunabell - August 5, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
but that still might not work. Remember the contest at ff? No entries, I don't think. I started, but I suck at fanfics.

believe24 - August 6, 2005 01:55 AM (GMT)
i like writing, i like art stuff (cuzz i figured my computer out and i can now make pretty things. )
but good idea guys.

I find that so hurtful T_T

Anyways, writing contests are definitely something we ought to try. Maybe not so much a writing contest as...I'm not sure...-.-, anyways, that could be an idea. Contests. Kind of what actually I was thinking of making it into. Not much we can do into the awards though...

Hmm...contests are a definite look-into. Maybe we should have...posted debates? ^^ Flaming might be an issue though. Still, I think this forum has ridden mostly on debates...fanfics and such are usually...the side course or whatever you call it.

Anyways, just keep up with it. If you get any ideas, plz help ><

I'm sorry! It's nothing personal, I bet ur a great writer. I don't really read fics in general, so I don't know about anyone's personal talents. I only know about L's because I used to read her fic before the january thing. and i used 2 read raq's fic that's it really

Soulz - August 7, 2005 05:04 PM (GMT)
lol no problemmmm. I have a few here myself, none of them I finished...so I can't really call myself a writer anyway, haha

I was just jk ;) no worries

Lunabell - August 7, 2005 06:32 PM (GMT)
yeah, I've tried my hand at fic-writing, but I don't have the attention span to finish them

Soulz - August 7, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
I DO have the attention span, but...i dunno, my stories are...crap?

Lunabell - August 7, 2005 10:04 PM (GMT)
they probably aren't crap. I can get IDEAS for stoires, but writing them out is different. I totally suck at describing any action in scenes. And I can't describe objects or places either.

Soulz - August 8, 2005 10:57 PM (GMT)
hmm, read up a little on my new story, which I have half the mind of ditching, called I Guess I should Post This.

Lunabell - August 9, 2005 01:10 AM (GMT)
I started to read it, but then I noticed u said that it was like a book two type thing. I'd never read the first one so I thought I'd try looking around for it, but I never found it.

Soulz - August 9, 2005 04:11 PM (GMT)
oh, haha, ^^ that's cuz i didnt post it here.

Lunabell - August 10, 2005 12:15 AM (GMT)
yeah, i realized that.

I have an excellent idea. It will not be a contest, but someone could make a story that includes all of the active members here. It could be anything, getting stranded on an island, going to and getting stuck on an island with dinosaurs, perhaps going back to mideval times and having, say, admin as the nobility and the members as commoners or military, and having a rogue group of them to always be plotting to overthrow the nobles. Everybody would have their strengths and weaknesses, their every interest fully exagerrated. For example, if there's somebody here who just loves to flirt, then in the stories they will be an unrelenting flirt. If someone's more of a wise person, then they will say wise things and be more of a person to tell other people what they should do, give advice. If somebody has a love for cats, and if you add mechs into the setting, then that person could have like a cat-like mech. Or a dog mech for dog lovers.

Since this site is particularly down from what I can see, perhaps a few people could each create their own stories. They don't have to be realistic, people could use magic, be ghosts, be invincible, and whatever else your mind leads you to. Basically, show what it would be like if all of the people here lived through some story.

If you'd like a superb example, the Kakariko Graveyard has an ever-ongoing story, KG Dreamer, written by the Hawaiian cool guy, Donut. For ideas on format and just to see exactly what I mean, Here is KG Dreamer.

If each of you really don't know what the others are like, I suggest everybody getting AIM (if you don't already have it) and just creating chatrooms with everybody from DWBL in it. You can talk about anything, but as you discuss things, you'll learn about how they act, things they say, and whatnot. I haven't been here in a long time, and I never really got to know how any of you were.

I hope that if you like my idea, it works. I'll be sure to contribute somehow when I fully return after I get rid of all this work.

Lunabell - September 1, 2005 11:35 AM (GMT)
Interesting idea...I like it. But it depends on who writes it. The reason the site collapsed was partically because of conflict. I don't trust myself to write it, and I don't trust some people to write about me. So unless we get someone really objective who has enough time on their hand, I don't think it could get done. any volunteers?

Jake - September 1, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
Actually, I could head the stories and roleplay. Due to the fact I am on every now and then and check my e-mail a lot, then I probably could handle an e-mail thing. If you can, make a rank for myself as well as others called "Judge" or something along those lines. Then, I could message all the other Judges or something and we can discuss a winner.

As for the roleplay, being a seasoned roleplayer myself, once Rodeny gets back, prehaps he and I could oversee the roleplays. Just suggesting one of us do it.

I love to debate, and I definetly would head the debates area. Prehaps make a topic of the week, then every other week a new debate is made. I could PM and admin to send out a message to all users about the newest debate. It could work.

believe24 - September 1, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
maybe. its a good idea.

Jake - September 1, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
My hopes are high for the contests and debates.

Jake - September 2, 2005 08:38 PM (GMT)
Hell, I am already thinking up rules for debates depending on the subject.

Lunabell - September 3, 2005 04:07 PM (GMT)
there's a whole section for debates and there's rules already too. The problem is we don't know what to debate about, because most of us agree w/each other. Except one time, and that got really immature.

Jake - September 3, 2005 07:55 PM (GMT)
But debate of the week might help a bit. And I am sure I can find some things we don't agree on. *coughBUSHcough*.

Plus there would be rules based on the current debate, mainly certaint comments couldn't be made.

TinkerbeL - September 3, 2005 09:22 PM (GMT)
I think that could work!

ok...whatever.

I added 2 debate topics. Both of them I admit to stealing from gaiaonline.com.

Jake - September 3, 2005 11:56 PM (GMT)
I thought I was supposed to head them considering the fact that I came up with the idea. <_<

Also a trivia for every Sunday. I ask a question. Then when soemone can answer the question, then I ask another question, or they ask another question.

TinkerbeL - September 4, 2005 12:01 AM (GMT)
You wanna be a mod?

Jake - September 4, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
Eh, why not? I'll see about making a debate of the week tommorow.

TinkerbeL - September 4, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
Alright...another forum shud appear 2 u soon.

So no one else can come up with debate topics? God forbid someone else wants to start one! I'm sorry, but if only you can come up with them, I have to say the idea is stupid and I vote against it.

what's the difference?

Jake - September 4, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
You can make your own, but I'm supposed to be in charge of the DOTW. <_<

Lunabell - September 4, 2005 12:26 AM (GMT)
why you? I mean, I know you came up with the idea, but maybe everyone should be given a turn, as long as they're active enough.

Jake - September 4, 2005 12:27 AM (GMT)
See my Good News! topic.

Lunabell - September 4, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
I did. I still think we should alternate. If not with the regular members, at least w/the admins/mods

Jake - September 4, 2005 12:31 AM (GMT)
Regular Members? Dunno. Maybe whoever can make the best point (in my opinion) gets to post and create the next one? But then, that would kinda make it useless to make one person head of the whole thing if someone else would. Prehaps, make them a Jr. debater of the week? A reward or something for winning? They get to help out?

the problem with that is our opinion is going to be biased. What I'm trying to say is I don't think one person, especially a non-admin, should be in charge. I'm saying maybe one week one person could do it, the next week someone else, between all the people that come often. and then the cycle can continue. This feels too much like a monoarchy, which I am not for.

Jake - September 4, 2005 01:05 AM (GMT)
I don't like it.

Lunabell - September 4, 2005 01:08 AM (GMT)
why not?
