Title: Welcome!!
Athéniel Egleriannen - March 16, 2005 09:01 AM (GMT)
Hey!!
If you're new to the forum, this is the place to introduce yourself to others that are here.
Remember that most usual forum rules do apply when you post. The basics such as being friendly, not abusing the boards, no insults or rude language whether directly to members or any subjects discussed in these forums apply. If you're lost, make sure you ask, and one of our friendly mods will help you out.
Most importantly, you have to love LotR (not a necessity, but it'd be great ;) ). Support our gradually building community. Have fun while you're at it!
~Atheniél
Gil_Galad22 - March 24, 2005 12:57 PM (GMT)
Hi, I'm Gil_Galad22. I've always liked the story of the Last Alligence, and my birthday is honestly the 22nd September. I've been a fan of LotR since I saw FotR at the cinema, but I love the books as well. I'd like to say I know quite a lot about Tolkien and his works, but that's too big a thing for anyone to say, in my opinion. There's just so much. I have read the Silmarillion several times though.
OK, real info. I'm Becky, a 16 year old girl from England. My main hobbies are horseriding, reading and writing, especially Tolkien stuff. I'm quite happy with a small community, I think it's easier to get to know people. Anyway, got to go now, am currently juggling several different web pages.
Becky
Athéniel Egleriannen - March 28, 2005 08:07 AM (GMT)
Hey Becky!! Welcome to the forum!
Atheniél here (aka Miranda ^_^). An intro about me- I'm 15, (nearly 16, nearly 16!! okay, not quite. Have to wait till November :( ) an LotR fan, or else I wouldn't be here, and I live in Nobottle in The Shire (Fine, Australia if you must know). I love the books to bits, and they literally are falling to bits, compared to my other books, and the movies too, of course. I regard them sometimes as separate masterpieces, when they don’t quite fit together or tally with how I see things, even if Rotk was the first and only of the trilogy that I read before I saw the movie.
I love reading, art, writing anything from poetry to spoofs and parodies, music, shopping, design, and computers. Apparently, I’m insane and obsess over strange things. I worship an lotr shrine *feels people begin to stare* I can honestly, almost, say I know everything to do with the trilogy, but I’d be extremely impressed if someone knew, say, every minor detail in lotr, the Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, HOME, and the like… I have a fascination for Tolkienian myths and lore, and the languages, Elvish especially, which I love.
Didn't mention my family *grins* I have a five year old sister (it’s a big age gap, I know). Don’t own any pets, for the simple reason that my evil parents don’t really like them, but I’ve had a succession of strange pets. Ducklings, chicks, caterpillars, (don’t mind me, but I used to love caterpillars and ladybirds when I was younger), ladybirds, a budgie named George who was eaten by next door’s cat *sniffs* and a couple of mice. Mice are cannibals! They try to eat each other when they’re hungry, have you seen them at it? I’ve wanted to own cats, dogs and horses :(
Small and large communities both have their advantages… you do get to know everyone easier in smaller communities, but if they’re too small…..
Hope everyone has fun here :)
bill the pony - March 29, 2005 01:05 PM (GMT)
ok, what can i say about myself... i know both of you (you know me... as goldrider/gldrda probably)
i do love lotr, but not nearly as much as i did a couple of years ago. ive read all the books, and watched all the films, many times. i have the books on cd and i like to listen to them when im just in my room hanging...
apart from lotr i love read, surfing the net, latin (i was normal until then), insanity... i dunno. my cat.
i love the outdoors, i try to go walking every holiday and i do all sorts of things like duke of edinburugh (scheme of expeditions, comunity service, skills and physic recreation for those who dont know) i sing. alot. i have piano lessons, but im always too lazy to practice.
hmm... i live in london, uk, im 14 (more nearly 15 than you are 16... only got to wait till august)
im the youngest in my class. the middle in my family (older bro and younger bro) i cry way too easily, and i hate saying goodbye more than anything in the world.
that just about sums me up (but i dont think insanity came across enough in that)
luv btpxxx
Athéniel Egleriannen - March 30, 2005 05:56 AM (GMT)
Welcome btp (/goldrider :P)!!!
I'm glad ya decided to join us :) Aw, the crying easily comes across with me as well... I have probably mentioned it before, but I can be a really emotional person :S Yeh I recently took up this Eowyn challenge thingy, and hopefully thats gunna make me stick to a proper excercise routine...
Yahs and I did forget ta mention, I love my music :) Both lotr, otherwise, and instrumental. I play da Violin, going to, in two years time when I'm free of school for ever, start piano (I know it's late, but i've always wanted to play it!), drums (everyone has a phase in their life where they've wanted to play drums, don't tell me you didn't...!), guitar, and sax...
Anyways, glad you cud join us btp ;)
Hobbity_Goose - March 30, 2005 02:37 PM (GMT)
Hullo all !! well I'm goose or Lucy .. Most people call me Goose.. Im 16 (17 in June - Yay, i get to drive soon) i simply adore TLOTR... I began reading the books in January before FOTR came out .. and my first impression of the books has stuck with me - its just amazing.. everything about the whole TLOTR world amazes me - I'm in love with it .. i sometimes feel that the other books i've read (and i'm a book worm) just cannot be compared to Tolkien... i can honestly say that Northern Lights and the books by Phillip Pullman CANNOT be compared to Tolkien... as they take a different route.. i mean Tolkiens work is so pure and its a whole world in its own.. i honestly believed that way back near the beginning of time the world Tolkien created existed .. but with Phillip Pullmans books thats all they are a fantasy tale... hmm.. sorry... I kind of began ranting on and it's not in the right section *grins sorrily while looking around*
err... okay well I love reading, listening to music, I've recently began learning to play guitar by teaching myself but it's not going very well and I can sort of play the piano, my friend taught me the basics. I love the Internet, I adore TLOTR, I love Elijah Wood *begins daydreaming*.. i Love to shop, i love movies - mainly fantasy, comedys, thrillers, some action movies...
well i've written too much so i best be off now, thanks for allowing me to chat away about stuff.. i needed to chat about Tolkien!! YAY!! :D
Toodles, Love Lucy xx
Hobbity_Goose - March 30, 2005 02:39 PM (GMT)
Sorry i forgot i live outside of London, in Hertfordshire!! and i live with my family i have a younger brother (14) and my doggy called Sammy who is a 13yr old Yorkshire Terrier who likes to Sleep - ALOT!!
hehe
Toodles, Love Lucy xx
Athéniel Egleriannen - March 31, 2005 06:52 AM (GMT)
Hey Lucy!
*welcome hug*
We don't mind the rambling, cos I do it all the time! So yer welcome to join the insane crew :D I agree with the Phillip Pullman point, even though he's one of my fave authors, not the fave... No books are going to reach the scope of lotr anytime sune, people now just can't be bothered, and that's what makes lotr spesh :D
bill the pony - March 31, 2005 01:06 PM (GMT)
hmm... i do like phillip pullman, but no, deffinately not in the same area. phillip pullman i read once or twice... my lotr books are falling apart.
lotr was a life time of work... and im not saying pullman didnt work hard, its just they cant be compared.
im gonna be the youngest again aint i. you'd think as i got older younger people would join but they dont... why?why?wy???
rambling is great. everyone i know does it all the time. including 3.30am in the middle of a tent in a field while eating chocolate flavoured ice cream sauce. while its about -1000000000 degrees outside. people i know find the time to tell me they thought they were a fly on the wall (not even in a dream. in real life)
yeah those are the kinda friends i have, and so if you are less weird than that, it is good. but more weird is also very good.
anyway, aint actually got anything worth saying so i'll stop ranting now...................................................................................................................
Hobbity_Goose - March 31, 2005 03:40 PM (GMT)
Hullo
*jumps up and downing waving crazily*ahem
I can't remember what I was going to say.. I clicked on add Reply then began typing and all I remember is .................. nothing!! Oh dear... I have a memory like a sieve except when it comes to TLOTR I remember every little detail.. well nearly every little detail, because I would need an EXTRA LARGE brain to do that, but you get what i mean .. i hope.. unless I'm rambling on about something that was off topic and complete pointless... but like you all said you don't mind ramblers so i'm in a good place... well i guess i better stop, I'll be back later when i remember the point i was going to make  hehehe.
well bye, Love Lucy xx
Athéniel Egleriannen - April 1, 2005 06:44 AM (GMT)
That happens to me sometimes, but it’s strange cos now, we all have something in common! :P
When I’m on to something, anything that makes me want to ramble, and it’s not often anything vaguely interesting, I find it egg-xtremely hard to stop… I often wonder whether my main thing is to scare people away, it does often happen. But then, I know something of what it’s like when listening to someone talk about anything from lotr to the weather. Hmm. My friends are likewise, picture a group of almost-mad people dancing around a bonfire out in someone’s backyard yelling themselves hoarse :D And it’s strange to say that they’re practically normal (maybe it’s the absence of lotr obsessions), then you think of me… and you think, I’d better stop right there!!

bill the pony - April 2, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
:) ok back to normal now- have a nice day!
Aphrael - April 7, 2005 03:37 PM (GMT)
Hello! I'm new here, followed a link from Council of Elrond. I am a massive LotR fan and have been ever since I saw the first movie. I was hooked. I love to read and am a big fan of fantasy books in particular. My favorite authors are Tolkien (obviously), David Eddings, Orson Scott Card, Anne McCaffrey, and JK Rowling.
In other news, I'm a student in community college studying English literature. I'm probably a little older than some of you, but hope to get to know others soon.
See you around!
bill the pony - April 7, 2005 05:16 PM (GMT)
hya, nice to meet you :)
welcome to this site, that isnt mine, but i post on sometimes...
where do you live?
- actually that sounds really stalker-ish. it isnt supposed to be!
more like, in which area of the world do you live?
anyway, i'll stop ranting now,
btp xxx
Athéniel Egleriannen - April 8, 2005 07:25 AM (GMT)
Hey Aphrael!! Welcome to this insane community :P
Your one of the only people from CoE here :)
I love fantasy books too! Its always been my favourite genre since before i knew lotr existed (not that long ago though it seems long)
Hope you like it here :D
Aphrael - April 10, 2005 03:28 AM (GMT)
Hmm, that's strange. I would've thought more CoE people would come. You're in the Realm of Nienna too, right. You must be, since that's the only forum I go in anymore over there. :P
To answer Bill's question, I'm from North Carolina in the US.
I have a question. For some reason, I can't get my avatar to work. I tried two different ways, uploading the file from my computer and putting in a URL, but neither worked. All that shows up is a little sliver and the file is really a 100X100 pixel image.
Athéniel Egleriannen - April 11, 2005 11:05 AM (GMT)
I fixed the avatar problem up just then so it should work now. If it still doesn’t work, make sure the picture’s not over 25KB and is one of the types of files listed.
You’re from the Realm of Nienna too? Tis strange… everyone I know from CoE is in that realm… coincidence I suppose. Becky and I are the only other ones from there. I would have thought more might possibly come too, but you if you want to, you can help us advertise by joining us in sticking a link in your sig too :) It might make things a little merrier with more people ^_^
Aphrael - April 13, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
Yay! I have an avatar! I'll add the link to here in my CoE sig. And yes, I'm in the Realm, but I haven't been active for a long time. I just joined back up recently. That's probably why I'm not familiar.
Lozadora - April 13, 2005 03:31 PM (GMT)
Heyloo! *waves*
I know some of you from CoE :D Lots of other people from the realm of Nienna :P
Ok...My name is Laura, I'm 15 years old and I live in somerset, England. I love Lord of the Rings and all things Tolkien. I can't wait to meet everyone here :D
Athéniel Egleriannen - April 14, 2005 06:17 AM (GMT)
Hey Laura!!
Yay, it's nice to have you back :D :D! *hugz all around*
This place is getting a likkle more merrier than it was when it started :)

My name is Mariska and I'm 18. I live in the Netherlands. I'm a lotr fan and on CoE I'm in the realm of Lórien, but I'm not an active member. I'm in last year of highschool and next year I'm going to study biomedical science. That's something like studying medicins but than the research part... Besides lotr I like music and playing volleyball.
I hope I'll like it here.
Love,
Wynnie
Athéniel Egleriannen - April 18, 2005 09:19 AM (GMT)

bill the pony - June 3, 2005 01:02 PM (GMT)
HEY EVERYONE!

Gil_Galad22 - June 9, 2005 10:39 AM (GMT)
Welcome to all the Nienna people, I'm Rebeca_C over there but the **** computer has blocked the forums. It's good to see so many people I know! And tell everyone I miss them- Rose, F_C, Sindae, Annu, Ainariel, Purple and eveyone who was there when I had to leave.
Vera- you speak Sindarin? I'm guessing by your CoE name.
And welcome to everyone who isn't from CoE as well! It's good to meet people I don't know. We're up to 17 members, I can remember when there was only 3!
FinrodFelagund1 - June 21, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
Hey everyone! I'm FinrodFelagund! :D
As you can see, I'm a huge fan of Finrod Felagund and the rest of the House of Finarfin. I also love Galadriel
I am from CoE and still go on the webiste daily, however, I want another website to belong here. So here I am!
Bye!
Athéniel Egleriannen - June 22, 2005 06:43 AM (GMT)
Heya Finrod Felagund!! Welcome to our insane little community! ;)
I go on CoE regularly sometimes too ^_^ What's your name over there? Mine's pretty much the same, without the accent.
Aw, the computer's blocked the site you say, Becky? :( Is that the computers at school, or at home? That must be why I haven't heard from you for so long! Dun worry, I'll pass on any messages you have to people at Nienna :)
Good ta see this place growing. Hope you enjoy it here, Finrod ;)
Erelith - June 24, 2005 07:46 AM (GMT)
Er, I should probably have posted here before posting my character's biography. I see I'm not the only dark elf on here. ^_^ There's a rarity.
Anyways, I suppose I should introduce myself a little. :D
(not that I have any idea of what to say.)
..Uhm, hi? If you haven't already read the bio, my name is Erelith, but some people (for some reason) shorten it to Ere  For those who don't know elvish, Erelith means simply 'lonely ashes' and Morelen means 'dark star'.
I'm not used to this set up, or how things are run on this forum, but I roleplay on other forums off of proboards. :) It might take me a little to get used to the format, or how things are run. (Bear with me. :) )
Athéniel Egleriannen - June 28, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
Hey Erelith! *welcome hug!* tehe. It's nice to have you here :) I lyke your name  No doubt you'll get used to things around here soon enough, I think everything's pretty straightforward ;) But if you happen to have any queries, just ask.
Procneus - September 7, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
LOL, a little weird, I'm wondering if I'm the only guy registered for the site. Regardless, I like the layout and think its a very nice site, and am not at all ashamed.... At any rate, I am Procneus, and am happy to meet you all... this pink is blinding!!! Anyway, I come from another site a lot like this one (just not pink, nothin wrong with pink though!). Anyway, its a site that needs a lot of fellowship of members as well and is a whole lot of fun, so please, if you are ever feeling bored, or generous (because we do treat new fellowship of members like presents), please check it out:
http://neolotr.proboards23.com/index.cgiIf you look it is gratefully appreciated, if you join, your a hero ;) see you around!
Lozadora - September 8, 2005 04:03 PM (GMT)
Hey Procneus, welcome to the forum :) i'm not sure about you being the only guy but its lovely to have you here :D Hope to see you arounf the forum. loza x
Athéniel Egleriannen - September 9, 2005 06:19 AM (GMT)
Heya Procneus! Welcome to the site B) Hope you like it here. You can stick a link in your profile, but other than that, avoid posting site links on your very first post, k? Your site's pretty nice though, good luck with it ^_^
Pink? Are you referring to the background? To me it's more reddish, but thanx for the compliments.
It's good to have you here!
Luv, Athéniel
Erelith - September 9, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
Ohh!! ohh! That site has a section for Dark elves on there. Just for them. -swoon- I feel special now. XD
I think I might enlist myself on that site, though as it is I can't keep up with the biolion others I am currently on. Haha, that's alright though. The more the merrier.
Welcome by the way :P
