Title: Kestrar
Description: Gil_Galad22's character

Kestrar
[Full Text]
A Man who has never known his true family, he has lived with his father's friends all his life. He has two lives, one in the Second Age, and one in the Fourth. He is on a quest to find his true family, armed with only the name Beren, he wanders into the wilderness after a day's hunting with only his horse Rochir for company.
His parents, Galenon and Orva, left long ago, and Kestrar does not know if they are alive or not. He has been brought up by some of Galenon's friends, but has left them on a quest to find his true parents. He knows only that he has some distant relation to Beren One-Hand, until he meets an elf who believes her mother was also called Orva, making Kestrar her half sister, and a half elf. This would explain why, at 27, he still feels like a young boy, and is able to handle both a bow and sword with skill surpassing anyone he has met, except his half sister.
[Added by Athéniel, to clarify details slightly]
Unknown to Kestrar, his mother, Orva, is one of the Eldar, thus of Elven kind. Having always believed his mother to have been human, he is unaware of his own identity as half-elven until he is faced with the choice of the Valar after reuniting with his mother and father. Together with Tîwele, his half sister, they gain the acquaintance of Lord Galenon when Galenon at last calls for his son to return to him for unknown reasons, after so many years of separation. Kestrar is unsure of the truth behind his mother Orva's story, after hearing of her separation from Tîwele as a young girl, and does not know whether she is alive. The root of this story is partially what brings both Kestrar and Tîwele to Galenon's castle in 'Abandoned Ways'. More may be added.

Kewl ;) Curiousness... How does he have two lives?

A bit more about Kestrar:
His parents, Galenon and Orva, left long ago, and Kestrar does not know if they are alive or not. He has been brought up by some of Galenon's friends, but has left them on a quest to find his true parents. He knows only that he has some distant relation to Beren One-Hand, until he meets an elf who believes her mother was also called Orva, making Kestrar her half sister, and a half elf. This would explain why, at 27, he still feels like a young boy, and is able to handle both a bow and sword with skill surpassing anyone he has met, except his half sister.
Ohh, it would be good for a dark elf to walk into the middle of our current battle!

Great stuff :) These family revelations could get interesting. By the way, don’t forget that if Kestrar is half-elven, he gets given ‘the choice’ by the Valar. That is, if… We don’t rightly know yet, or he doesn’t, anyway ;) Kestrar has triple lives now? O_< I remember the confusion, but he need only have about two lives, Fourth Age and whenever his ‘other’ life is set, because remember, I then said that the RP would be set in the Fourth Age, or at least, I think I did!
It would indeed be interesting for someone like Gide to walk into the midst of the ‘exciting’ battle we’re having, and I hope she does one day ^_^ There’s an Elven Kingdom, and elves popping up all over the place, and it’s supposed to be an age when most, or probably all Elves have already left! I get how dark elves came to be now, I do somewhat remember having read that bit about them in the Silmarillion, but must have forgotten. Yup, they’re called Moriquendi. A bit of a Quenya lecture from me this time- Morë ‘dark, black’ is the adjective, prefixed to Quendi ‘elves’, and since the word Quendi is plural, morë also resumes the plural, mori to agree in number. Pretty simple, but I suppose you’re possibly up to that stuff in the course already? Don’t remember which lesson was dedicated to adjectives… but never mind me… now where were we? :D

Yup, done that part. I'm on lesson 10 now! Not much compared to you, but still, I'm quite impressed! At least you don't have to mutate Quendi like you would in Sindarin.
Kestrar hasn't yet realised about Orva being an elf...
Athéniel Egleriannen - June 9, 2005 11:05 AM (GMT)
Tehe, though I quite like the mutation stuff, unusually enough  I've not come across it anywhere else (or Celtish, maybe?)... you could almost say it's unique to Sindarin. Though my knowledge of languages are limited, so I dun know. So Orva is an elf, is she? But then I suppose if she were the mortal and Kestrar's father were the Elf, that'd make Tiwele half-elven too. Argh, confusing
Gil_Galad22 - June 9, 2005 02:30 PM (GMT)
I assumed Orva was an elf because your charactor is! Because Kestrar didn't know her she could be anything but I thaught Tîwele was a full elf?
BTW, there may be mutations in Welsh, the language Sindarin is based off. I know 1 word, Cymru meaning Wales!
Athéniel Egleriannen - June 10, 2005 10:23 AM (GMT)
Don't know a thing about Welsh, but kewl  English has half-mutations, we just don't notice they're there because they don't exist in writing.
Tîwele is a full Elf. K I get you, I've been confusing myself, ignore me  Have you ever thought about what Kestrar looks like? Because a thing that's occurred to me is that up until now, I have no clue what he looks like! (Though it couldn't matter too much, I'll get by) I imagine him with brown hair, which is a thing with me, I suppose, especially in relation to Beren.

ATHENIEL'S POST: (sorry, it was misplaced in the sorting soomehow)
Slightly like how I thought him to be ;) A prince of men, eh? You know, he could probably be a prince in 'both' stories, because if his mother is Royalty which I think she could be, being married to... wait, just realised- two kings then that makes him a prince in two kingdoms. I'd like to see your other fic :)
Awesome character Lucy! *applauds* Can't wait to have her join a RP ;)

 huh?

OH BOTHER, MISPLACED ANOTHER POST. Okay, you can hurt me for it.
GIL-GALAD22'S POST:
Yes, he has light brown hair flecked with blond. His eyes, I think, are a light brown as well, and he dresses in green and brown, clad as an elf, but during matters of import he wears silver, even as an elf (or Legolas, at least). Maybe if I post my other story you might get a feel for that side of his charactor. I know I've not described him very well. He's a prince of Men in that part.
Lucy, I like your charactor. The only problem- there's a story there already! Not like Kestrar doesn't or anything.... ^_^
