well, just thought i would mention it: starring Keira Knightly...

hmm, well i've seen a 4hr TV (in the UK) version and this 2hr film version and read most of the book - i didnt enjoy it because we had to do it for our GCSEs!! hmm

and i personally feel, they've not really stuck to the story, not enough of Darcy, Wickham, Colonel FitzWilliam, lydia/kitty... basically theres not enough time to fit it all in. They've made it more into a comedy than the seriousness/love story it truely is: and it misses out the most famous opening line ever!!! *in a clear reading voice* "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a good wife "

hmm, just wondering if anyone else has seen the film or anything... any opinions on Austen's novel ???
^_^

I'd like to see this movie. It sounds nice, even though I haven't seen a trailer for it yet. Don't know when it will be released here, but it must be awhile yet (you've already seen it??). It book must not be that bad considering a lot of people seem to like it, but I haven't read it. I did pick it up one day and read the first chapter though. It didn't strike me as terribly exciting, but it was only the first chapter so I can't judge from that. And... I haven't read any more of it since that day... but I'll get to reading it, as soon as I've finished all the other books I'm reading at the moment :)

Ooo! What a great topic!!! I love Pride and Predjudice!! I'm actually reading it at the minute I'm about half-way through...I'ts actually a really good book, you just have to give it time to get into it ^_^

I loved  the BBC TV adaption, with Colin Firth :yesnod: it was really close to the book and they fitted in all the storylines and characters...I love it!!!

I'm not sure about the new adaption, I still hold a grudge for Keira Knightly over Pirates of the Carribean so i'm probably biased when I say that she doesn't look right as Elizabeth Bennet :shakeshead: but I can't beleive it Lucy, that they've left out the famous "It is a truth universally acknowledged.." line, how can you have pride and Predjudice without that line?? *shakes head*

Heheh that line claims to be one of the most famous in English Literature, and yet I had never heard it before :frown: But I've started reading the book again. This time, I went and bought it, and it's pretty good so far I guess (only a couple of chapters in though), and yesterday, I went and saw the movie... and I really liked it ^_^ I almost hoped to finish the book before I went and saw it, but couldn't... It 'conformed to my expectations', except that I didn't know the story too well to start off with (so that isn't much of an expectation)... But yes, it was a nice movie :)
