Title: --Favourite Cast/Crew quotes--
Description: The best moments...

Athéniel Egleriannen - January 14, 2006 10:27 AM (GMT)
I've been meaning to post this for awhile, but never did... Well, we've had various favourite movie and book quotes around, but what about everyone's favourite quotes from the insane cast and crew behind the movies? Over the past, I've come across many crazy, pointless, funny, disturbing, stupid, inspiring and insightful things these people have said. (Some made me laugh till I nearly cried O_o) A list of some of my faves:

Elijah
'I'm not a star, a star's nothing but a ball of gas!'
'There are still people who don't know about my tattoo? What rock do they live under?!'
'Foochie Dom.'
'I want Underoos. I want blankets with hobbits. I want all that stuff because I think it's funny.'
'My God! Middle Earth does exist!'
'There's a real purity in New Zealand that doesn't exist in the states. It's actually not an easy thing to find in our world anymore. It's a unique place because it is so far away from the rest of the world. There is a sense of isolation and also being protected.'
'Dream the impossible because dreams do come true.'
'There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow men. True nobility lies in being superior to your former self.'
'In the absence of love, there is nothing worth fighting for.'

Dom
'I have been heartbroken once and it has affected all my
relationships from there on. But now I look at it as a occupational
hazard. If you are in the meat market at some point you are gonna get
mad cows disease.'
'I really like kissing girls, because men's moustaches get in the way.'
'I won't miss having to stand for two hours at 4:30 a.m. and having freezing cold glue applied to my feet. I won't miss two-hour drives to work or long, long, long, days sitting in my trailer waiting... waiting... waiting. I won't miss glue in my ears. But I would do it all again tomorrow.'
'We all look after each other and support each other. Billy and I went down to Mexico to see Orlando Bloom when he was working on Troy, we went to see Billy in a play, and I went to see Elijah when he was filming in New York. We all just look after each other, and hopefully that will continue to happen. We're a brotherhood, a fellowship.'
'We're kind of cheeky, and we're very physically tactile with one other. I love those guys. I don't (have) any qualms about it. They're my brothers, and I don't have any problem showing affection for men. I'm aware of my own sexuality enough to be free with people.'
'I think deep down I've always wanted to be an actor. It was the one thing in school that I was undoubtedly enthusiastic about and good at. I coasted along being good at German, Geography, English and football but there wasn't anything that I could really call my thing, my niche.'
'I would like to be remembered as someone who could make people laugh. I would just like to be remembered really.'

Billy
(On being asked: 'How do you manage to keep looking so slim?')
'Well, hobbits run around to try and destroy rings quite a lot.'
'Playing Pippin again was just like saying hello to an old friend.'

Orlando
'I was a nice, soft pillow for Sean. (Sean Bean)'
'Elves are cool, man.'
'Vig used to call me "elf boy," and I'd call him "filthy human." As an Elf, I never got a scratch on me, never got dirty. And Vig would come out with blood and sweat all over him. And he'd say to me, "Oh, go manicure your nails."'
'What's beautiful about this story is it says the evil of the world is contained within one Ring. And the smallest of beings, the Hobbits, can come together with friends and a Fellowship and go off to destroy the Ring in the fires where it was made. So, it runs very parallel with what's happening today. I think it's a story of hope, because at the end, the evil is overcome.' (awwwwww...)

Liv Tyler
'I love them all, all my costars. We would hang out mostly in the hair-and-makeup trailer, and after work at dinner. We would eat all the time and drink wine and laugh. I was always like, 'Let's go get dinner!' We all lived in houses, some of us in apartments. Orlando and I lived right around the corner from where Peter lives on this beautiful bay, up on these cliffs, and we had just the sea in front of us. You wake up to rainbows and dolphins. So, we had each other and work and some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen.'

Karl Urban
'Being sexy is not something I think about. It's not part of my day to day reality when I'm home walking my dog. It's not like I'm going, "God, I'm sexy". If I ever said that out loud, my dog would certainly look up at me and say, "Don't go there."'

Ian McKellan
'I was suggesting to Peter he should insert some love interest for Gandalf in a later one. He suggested Galadriel... I said "no, I was thinking more of someone like Legolas."'

Peter Jackson
'I wanted movies where the directing was flamboyant, where the directors are using every trick in the book and their imagination. I just watched films that are dynamic. And I'd think, 'OK, I know what I have to do now.'
'We had a great mixture of people who were very experienced, and people like Orlando, who was making his first movie. The older actors tended to look after the younger ones, especially someone like Viggo, who was very well grounded, very centred and very committed to the movie. After a short time the younger actors like Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd and Orlando started to look up to Viggo and he set the example for them. Ian McKellen, too, brought a lot of stability to the project.'
'New Zealand is not a small country but a large village.'

The whole 'Tig' Episode... (from the FotR Cast Commentaries) I love this!
Elijah: All those days of playing Cup...
Dom: Oooh yes, Cup!
Sean: Cup was a fantastic game.
Billy: Cup, by the way, is where you take a paper cup --
Sean: Dixie cup.
Billy: A... Dixie cup, if you're American...
Dom: Or a paper cup, if you speak English.
Billy: And you keep it up by passing it to each other. It was quite boring, but if you're waiting for a helicopter for four days, it's the main way that you pass the day.
Dom: I would just like to say that it's an original Dominic Monaghan game, available online at my website, and you can use different cups, but if you want, you can log on to my website and get an official Cup cup.
Billy: Dominic Monaghan's Crazy Games dot com
Dom: And another game called Nudge, Billy's a huge fan of that. So, if anyone wants to get involved with game-making...
Elijah: Speaking of game-making, what was the name of the fake game that y'all tried to get me into?
Billy, Dom, Sean: Oh, Tig! Tag? Tig! Tig! *laughter*
Elijah: Oh my God...
Billy: Tig was when we were filming Weathertop, and myself and Dom just started tigging each other, you know just touching each other, going "Tig! Tig!" Just for like, no reason. And then, Sean came over, and he started doing it as well. And then we'd say, "Tigtig, tigtag" like, for no reason. And then Elijah came over and said, "What are you guys doing?" We said, "Oh, we're playing a game called Tig." He says, "Well how do you play?" And we spent like the next two hours making up rules...
Elijah: And trying to teach me, and of course, I was getting everything wrong...
Sean: He couldn't follow the game, and the three of us were forever frustrated that he wasn't following these new rules that we continued to make up...
Dom: So we, the three of us, were constantly getting it right, and every time Elijah tried a new way of tigging, we'd say, "No, Elijah, you can't tig on a tog, you can't tag on a tig, you have to do an elephant impression if you're gonna tig Billy... If Billy's gonna tig you back, you have to get on your knees and take your trousers down..."
Billy: How many times, Elijah, you can't double-tig a tag! *laughter*
Dom: And for like three weeks, he was saying how much he enjoyed playing Tig
Sean: And he wanted to get the rule book!
Billy: And remember we forgot to say it was a wind-up! So a year later he says, "Why do we never play Tig?" (laughter)
Elijah: And then they finally let the cat out of the bag. My whole world came shattering down on me when they told me that that was a lie. For a whole year, I believed it was a real game, and then they told me."
Dom: Sorry, Elijah.
Elijah: And then, what else was not true? That's what I was asking.
Sean: It undermines the integrity of the entire relationship.
Dom: That's what I think.
(later)
Billy: You have to remember, between these shots, we were teaching Elijah how to play Tig.
Elijah: That's right, keep that at the back of your mind... the lie!

;)

haha... I loved that commentry in the film about TIG, it was brillian! I laughed so much, it still makes me smile thinking about it!! I wuv it when they all get together its soo funny!!!

Did you find the "eggs" on the extended DVD's ??
If you didn't I won't quote them yet!! but that was another thing that cracked me up! ^_^

Athéniel Egleriannen - January 19, 2006 11:24 AM (GMT)
I found the eggs awhile ago, though I kind of didn't find them myself =S What wasn't fun was that all the eggs on all the DVDs were in the same spot! (Does that count as a spoiler? Better not.) So go ahead and quote them if you like. Gawd, I miss that Lij and Dom interview so much. It was hilarious!

(Oh, and you know what I love about Ian McKellan? He's kooky and crazy ;) Well, they all are, but you'd imagine, being Gandalf and everything, he'd be more wise...)

Basically Dom pretends to be a German Interviewer called Hans Jensen whose in Berlin and can see Elijah Wood, but he is in New York and can't see them, i won't write it all out, this is extremely funny...

Hans Jensen:You have- you have very big eyes. Very big, blue eyes.
Elijah Wood: Uh-huh.
Hans:Do you think this is the reason why you are successful and famous?
Elijah:Um...
Hans:Big. Blue.
Elijah:Yes.
Hans: You are famous because of this? Because of your eyes? You- next- the next job you do, you work on a movie called, um, uh, 'Hooligans' about, uh, football hooligans. You play football? You kick- you kick balls?

Hans moves on to talk about Franke Potente - it gets a little rude so i won't write that...

Hans:You- you, uh, you finish relationship with her. Why?
Elijah:Um, it didn't work out, unfortunately.
Hans:How long was she your wife?
Elijah:Uh, she was never my wife.
Hans:You were engaged to her, though?
Elijah:No, no, I was-
Hans: You have baby?
Elijah:No.
Hans:I hear she has small child, Philippa. She, uh, Flipper is her name.
Elijah:Oh, no.
Hans:You make a movie called 'Flipper.'
Elijah:Yes.
Hans:Very famous movie. The dolphin is dead. Did you know this?
Elijah:Yes. No, I did not know that. That's terrible.
Hans:Died in a car accident.

he then goes on to say its Dom here, and Elijah swears ALOT and says I knew it... they then say I wish you were here, and I love you brother.. its very sweet.

theres my quotes for now until I remember more...

That Egg was hilarious! Unfortunately my extended copies of FoTR and TTT don't have them. So I only have the ROTK Easter Eggs.

And the tig thing was so funny too! Although my friends sometimes worry about me when I try to play tig and they just don't get the rules!!!! Alas! *shakes head* :P

Athéniel Egleriannen - March 9, 2006 12:14 PM (GMT)
That happens to me too :moodswing: Evil, confuzzled, no-like-tig people *grumbles*... Ah, it'd be fun to make up al the rules to tig, there'd be a hundred million. (Rule one: Tig on a double tag while playing twister.)

You know, that was the best easter egg the EE's ever had. It made me laugh out loud (still does). It seems insanity is relative :yesnod:

Erelith - March 15, 2006 09:10 AM (GMT)
Hmm. I've never seen these 'easter eggs' what cd/menu can I find them on? I'd enjoy looking at them myself.

Lozadora - March 15, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
I can tell you where the RotK ones are but I don't know about the others :Aragorn:

There is one on each DVD of the extended edition. If you go to the select scene menu and go right down to the last scene on the disc, then you press the down arrow and a little ring should appear, then you just press enter and the Easter egg should start. Hope that helps although my explaining is not the best :)

Erelith - March 15, 2006 07:20 PM (GMT)
Okay I will have to check it out. No worries on not knowing where the other EE ones are, since ROTK: EE is the only LOTR movie I own. Hahah. I haven't seen two towers in over a year or so, and I lost my book...

Suprisingly, I can still quote it. O_o

Anyways, I'll have to go check that out while I eat breakfast {at 2:30pm.} hah.

Edit: After much searching for the dvd's remote, I used my parents while they were out and about, but it doesn't seem to work. :(
