Title: "The Lovely Bones"
Description: Jackson's 4th film after TLOTR!
Hobbity_Goose - April 14, 2006 03:12 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I missed out putting the 3rd one, which is HALO; taken from the games console(such as X-Box) game, Not sure on its release or Anything really. All I know is that it's a game my brother has which I became addicted to for a little while several years ago. Its the typical fighting game in which you destroy 'the bad guys' etc etc
Back to what the main purpose of this thread is. The ever amazing Peter Jackson will be taking another wonderfully written novel and putting it on to the big screen.
Its called "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold, I've just finished reading it, and it's one of the best books I have read. It so very emotional and chilling, yet its uplifting and beautiful. I do honestly recommend this book, I found out about it through a friend, then I realised where I heard the name, it was a film Peter would be directing.
Peter won't really be beginning this project until next year, after HALO is completed, BUT I did read they are working out the plot and making some sort of start on "Heaven" and how he should porrtray it because it can be ANYTHING.
Has anyone heard of this novel?? Or got any more news?? Or would you like me to write a plot outline??

PJ's doing 'Halo' and 'The Lovely Bones'? Now that's news to me ;) But then, I haven't really been looking over his next planned projects recently. I picked up 'The Lovely Bones' in the bookstore last time I went there. It sounded nice. I vaguely recall it being in some fave books list they had after surveying people. Even though whenever I have a book list, I rarely get to finishing all the books on there, I'll contemplate reading it. Shed some light on the plot? ^_^

~*~SPOILER~*~
Basically its a story told from a young girls point of view from heaven. She was raped and murdered, i won't say by who, and shes sitting up in her own heaven, and shes just watching how life carries on and how her family take the news and how they cope with it all.
There is much more to it but thats the basic outline. It had me crying at one point, it was just so heartbreaking. She has a much younger sister and a baby brother - and he wants to know where she is.. and :crying: its really sad.... Hope that tells you more about it! But I really do advise you to read it, its an excellent novel.
hmm.. OH and more GOOD NEWS, Pete is planning to begin working on a script for The Hobbit in 2006!!!! YAY!!!! I'm trying to find more info at the moment!!!

Really? As in, not-another-crazy-rumour-in-which-some-fan-freaks-out-because-they've-just-seen-a-fan-trailer-which-someone-made-of-The-Hobbit-out-of-sheer-fandom (or boredom)-and-thinks-that-it-is-the-real-thing? Have we heard it from PJ himself yet?
Aw, you know, that sounds like a realli sad story. It reminds me of... I don't know, this chain letter that went around a while back which told the story of a girl being murdered, ending with, 'that night my daddy murdered me.' Horrific.

No, its not one of those stupid things or rumours, let me find the magazine and I shall type up what the interview with PJ said about The Hobbit. It wasn't a great deal but thats where I found out about The Lovely Bones - its a reliable source.
Yeah. It is a sad story. I've seen one of those chain letters before - they're awful.
Hmm, when I find more info for you I'll add it on here. I'm bit busy at the moment with revising, so I may not be back for a little while. I'll try and do it as soon as possible. It might be after my exam on weds 21st, thats usually the time I can get online.

Now that sounds promising ;) *Jumps for joy* yaaaaaaaaaay... the Hobbit, FINALLY. Well, considering if he starts the script this year, it might not be released till, like 2008 or something, and that's a long way away. At least (hopefully) we know no one else stole the rights.
Well if PJ's gunna do something like The Lovely Bones, it should be fun to see. I love his 'vision', heheh. He just has a knack of making a story interesting. Any idea what he's doing next up, or, now?

Right, I finally have a spare 10 mins to type up this mini interview!
Well these bits are the more important bits:
" He is looking to "jump off the bandwagon of pressure for awhile" by spending 2006 adapting The Lovely Bones, with his regular writing partners Fran Walsh and Phillipa Boyens... ,The Lovely Bones, may prove his trickiest to date. Elegant and yet shockingly violen, Alice Sebold's novel blends the supernatural with the everyday, telling of the story of how 13-year-old Suzie watched her family fall apart in the aftermath of her murder - from Heaven. "It's not going to be easy," ... "I've got to figure out what Heaven looks like! The only thing I know is that anything you can imagine Haeaven would look like, I don't want to do - which is a challenge." "
Hmm, this is what is written about The Hobbit, I thought it was more, but that might just have been me being excited about The Hobbit and The Lovely Bones!!!
" Jackson doesn't confirm or deny long-gestating talk of making The Hobbit, referring only to "another script" he and his co-writers will work on before shooting The Lovely Bones in January next year. "
" The big screen adaption of Halo, which he is producing, will shoot at his Weta Studio in Wellington this yea, while he is also tinkering with King Kong for a second DVD release which we can probably expect nearer Christmas "
And thats it. Its more of a commentry than interview - sorry I thought it was more. But its still interesting. Towards the end of this commentry is Richard Taylors thoughts on Halo - how its different to other fims hes worked on and how he is excited about the possibilities of DVD, he wants to show the inner works of special effects.
Woah. My hands ache abit now. Haven't typed so much in ages! Well hope you enjoyed it!!!
Lucy xxx ^_^

Thnx for sharing that, Lucy ^_^
So I guess that now, it's not a question of whether PJ will do the Hobbit, but when. Hopefully, it might be as soon as 2008 or something.
As for the Lovely Bones, it would be quite a treat to have PJ work on something that's not stictly classified as an epic. That would be interesting... I haven't gotten round to reading the book yet, as annoyingly, I have quite a number of books on my reading list at the moment! heh.
Did you say a second DVD release of King Kong? Would that be another word for extended DVD release by any chance? ;)
Ah... Halo. I read an article about that in the newspaper not too long ago. Just for some insight, it's a movie based on a game, a very graphic based, exciting war-type game, I got the impression. I <3 action-type films, so yay :) I wonder whether PJ plans to continue with that World War II project he was talking about, but you know, this could be it.

Thats okay ^_^
Yeah, lets hope he'll make a start on The Hobbit in 2008 *crosses fingers*
Yep following the traditional TLOTR extended DVDS he'll do an extended edition of King Kong ^_^
Oh cool. Thanks for the info on Halo.
Athéniel Egleriannen - September 3, 2006 08:49 AM (GMT)
2008 is soooo far away! Two whole years! And then it probably won't be released till 2009 or 2010 seeing how long some productions take. Eeeeeek. Well, I'm just glad it's him doing it.
Hobbity_Goose - September 4, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)
In the words of Samwise Gamgee "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo"
Its gonna take forever until we see the release of The Hobbit.
But like you say one good thing is that we KNOW Peter will be handling it, so its in VERY good hands ^_^
Athéniel Egleriannen - September 28, 2006 12:37 PM (GMT)
*Starts chant* PJ rocks... PJ rocks... Aha. You know, he's my favourite director. I was watching the Frighteners the other day. Those ghosts, only he would want to do something like that. But to be honest, I didn't really like those dead from RotK... They weren't as 'subtle' as I had pictured them. Anyhow, that's a completely different topic. Wonder what the guy's working on right now, as we speak.
Hobbity_Goose - October 4, 2006 09:49 PM (GMT)
Yeah PJ's awesome. I've not seen The Frighteners yet - I started watching it, BUT i saw 2mins of it! hehe! So I'll watch it one day!
Hmm, I know what you mean about the dead from ROTK. But I still think it really worked well. Of course it was always going to be difficult recreating ghosts, but I think he did it well with what technology and stuff is available. They could have looked awful. Hmm, well the dead, did scare me! heh!
Anywhooo, I hope PJ is working on The Lovely Bones!! It'll be interesting to watch PJ work. I'd love to observe a day of PJs life! I think it would be fascinating. ^_^
