Title: Inspiring songs and dedications
Description: Just what the title says =)
Athéniel Egleriannen - June 5, 2006 12:46 PM (GMT)
Welcome to the song dedication thread! What are everyone’s favourite inspiring songs? ^^ It would be nice to share or dedicate songs you love or that resemble particular ideas (or stories ^^), to the people here, or if ya like, to fictional characters.
Starting off, I’ll share with you all the song that always always brings back memories of LotR. I’ve always thought it an inspiring kind of song.
‘You Raise Me Up’
Josh Groban
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
And this one, or part of the song:
‘For The Fallen’
…Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres.
There is a music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncountered:
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables at home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
…But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end they remain.
-- Laurence Binyon
This song... dedicated to anyone who’s feeling sad or blue, that classic song from the Beatles (Gotta <3 it) ;) Just so it makes your day a little bit brighter =)
What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me ?
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song
And I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
What do I do when my love is away
(Does it worry you to be alone ?)
How do I feel by the end of the day,
(Are you sad because you're on your own ?)
No, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Do you need anybody
I need somebody to love
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love.
Would you believe in a love at first sight
Yes, I'm certain that it happens all the time
What do you see when you turn out the light
I can't tell you but I know it's mine,
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends
Do you need anybody
I just need someone to love
Could it be anybody
I want somebody to love.
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
with a little help from my friends.

This one reminds me of Varsis' point of view after Erelith's death in his grief...I think you should listen to it when that unfortunate time comes 'round. ^^
"To Where You Are" - Josh Groban
Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory's so clear
Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen
As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above
And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are
I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

I also felt the need to post this one, along with the mental image I get everytime I listen to it. SPOILERSSSSSS ALERT!! {below the lyrics}
"Let Me Fall (From Cirque De Soleil)"
Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide
Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them
Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise
I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains
Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear
Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall

‘Let me fall, Varsis.’ Erelith began to let hot tears sting their way down her face, fearing the bottomless depths below her. His hand was gripping her own as tight as he could manage, watching as her fingers began to slip from his. A foul voice danced across the thick tension in the air, as if chanting some dark spell in the black speech in hopes that Varsis’ strength would fail him. His fear and dreams of her death were colliding now, and on his life he would be damned to the depths with her if Varsis were to let her go now. The Moriquendë was stretched across as on his belly, one sword in hand and Erelith holding on dearly to his other. He could feel the weight under them giving way, and the Moriquendë knew that if he were to lift her to safety, it may not be for long. Meren just a hundred feet away and was more than ready to have both their lives on his hands. Though he could hear his voice, even in the thickened darkness he could not see Meren. Varsis’ chest pounded within him, knowing if he pulled Erelith up that he might send them both to the depths below. For her, he did not think there was another choice before him but that. Though they might have their differences, the Moriquendë could not think now of what darkness and despair he might face if he did not save her.
Letting all defenses go from his one hand, prepared to meet death fully with her – Varsis gripped all his strength into Erelith’s slender hands. ‘I would not let you fall to the depths below; surely you know this old elf better.’ He tried to jest nervously, hoping that he would find enough strength within him to fight Meren’s inducing enchantment. Varsis took Erelith’s other hand with all the strength he could now bear, watching as the grey stone began to fracture beneath him. In one swift move, the Moriquendë lifted Erelith up and protected her in his arms as he rolled aside to let the stone break and fall into the depths, sadly along with his beautiful white glittering blade falling down captive with it. It was a small price to pay, Varsis thought.

Bleh, sorry for multiple posts! I keep listening to my mix track and so many remind me of Amon Lanc. Did you know I actually started compiling music for my 'Amon Lanc' soundtrack? ^^ Sad, I know. HAHA, I also made a cd cover and label. Go me. :D {I have programs to do that} I don't know why this reminds me of Varsis really, but it does.
My Hero - Foo Fighters
Too alarming now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
Hes ordinary
Dont the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
Hes ordinary
Kudos my hero leaving all the best
You know my hero, the one thats on
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
Hes ordinary

Pretty songs ^^ I <3 that small section of RP *cries* (You're like me, but I try not to write stuff ahead too much) I'm going to dread those moments.
Erelith - June 13, 2006 03:48 PM (GMT)
Okay, MAJOR SPOILER. This song TOTALLY reminds me of the very moment Erelith is consumed into darkness, as Meren is. I wrote ahead, once more. >____<
Animal I have become - Three Days Grace
I can't escape this hell
So many times i've tried
But i'm still caged inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
(This animal, this animal)
I can't escape myself
(I can't escape myself)
So many times i've lied
(So many times i've lied)
But there's still rage inside
Somebody get me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
Somebody help me through this nightmare
I can't control myself
Somebody wake me from this nightmare
I can't escape this animal
(This animal, this animal, this animal, this animal, this animal, this animal, this animal)
So what if you can see the darkest side of me?
No one will ever change this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal I have become
Help me believe it's not the real me
Somebody help me tame this animal
(This animal I have become)

Erelith gripped and tormented her fingers through her thick, white mane of hair. Hot tears of rage stung her cheeks, trying to control them and force them back from even showing themselves. She wished so much to believe the nightmare of thoughts that she was plagued with were not truly herself, but Meren. In her heart though, she knew her own father better than to interfere with the most formidable enemy of all – herself. As much as Erelith forced her dark thoughts away, the more they came with a vengeance. If only Varsis were here to save her once more. It seemed it was what he did best, save her from herself. There was irony in the fact that the very person who had brought her to this level was the one and only person she wanted to save her now. He walked away from her when her most critical moment arose, and it would be something Erelith would never come to forgive him for. He pushed her down to this point – to the brink of this anger. Erelith wanted so much to believe he would come to her rescue one last time, but in the depths of her spirit she knew she would be left to darkness and despair. She could feel her soul breaking and crumbling away into ashes slowly until nothing would be left but a hollow shell of what she once was. Now it seemed the Moriquendë she had once known was fading fast, and being consumed into a hollow darkness. She could feel it consuming her inch by sweet inch, and as much as she wanted to scream out for help, Meren’s daughter knew she wished to secretly embrace its empowering feeling. The female Moriquendë needed to tame the animal she was quickly becoming. The passionate rage was unbearable on her spirit, and she gave way to the consuming darkness. It was the darkest side of Erelith, something perhaps even darker than what Meren himself had become.

Yey, more music, haha. Are you amazed yet at how many songs I've got on my list for Amon Lanc? This one reminds me of how Erelith views Varsis and also how he feels around her - constantly being the heroic and one person that knows he can bring Erelith out of even her darkest moments.
Artist: American Hi-Fi
Song: The Rescue
I wish we could back
to the beginning
cause there's something missing from your eyes.
We lost a lifetime
when I disappeared,
now I am coming back to you.
[Chorus:]
I wish I could fly, I know I can save us somehow.
You thought you were safe and sound but you need a hero now.
You gotta believe even with broken wings,
I've come to your rescue and you can't rescue me.
Summer's the season
but you're cold and freezing,
if there's a reason it's a lie.
When did I lose you,
I need you to pull through,
the weight of the world never felt so alive.
[Chorus x2]
