Leriana Aveill’e*
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Human
From her dusky home planet of Dathomir, a planet overshadowed by unease, Leriana has been Jedi Apprentice to her adored Master, Shakiah Leusa**, for nigh on 16 years.
History:
The first born of loving parents she no longer sees often, Leriana was only an infant of eighteen months when a great famine struck her world, leaving her people financially incapable and on the verge of poverty. On Shakiah Leusa’s mission to the murky land of Dathomir long ago, the kind-hearted Jedi delivered Dathomir’s citizens from the devastations of the famine, restoring what seemed eternal prosperity to its civilians, as long as those who cared and respected their world would continue to exist. In return for her favours, Leriana’s mother and father wished for their children to be gifted under the care of the Jedi. Recognising the children’s potential, Shakiah took Leriana and her younger brother Rhian, then but an infant of five months, with solemn promises to their parents that she would commit the two to be trained and taught in the Jedi arts.
So it was that Leriana and Rhian, amongst many thousands of other younglings, were raised and nurtured in the sanctuary of the Jedi Temple. It had always been her home and always would be, but in her dreams, Leriana still remembers the faraway land of Dathomir, to her a place reminiscent of a fairytale. In all her life, she has not had the chance to visit her home planet. But of her parents, her strongest memories are those she had when she was a newborn child. On rare occasions, she was granted the permission to speak to them by holo transmission, but for nigh on seven years prior to the Clone Wars, she has had no contact with them, and does not know how they fare.
Shakiah herself took on Leriana as her Padawan at the age of seven, while her associate, Aereine Lenar***, became Rhian’s Master a year later. Granted the position of Master on the Jedi Council when Leriana turned fifteen, Shakiah has since taught Leriana much about the arts of healing, at which the eager young Jedi had always excelled at. Her brother, on the other hand, was prompted with the specialty of foresight, for, since a young boy, he had been gifted with the power of the sense far beyond the abilities of most of his peers.
With her Master ‘Kiah, Leriana has overcome many massive undertakings, proving herself to be amongst the most gifted of her age. On one such mission to the world of Devaron, she fell victim to a treacherous passion, falling under the sway of Dark Jedi Kreone Xaviese. His death taught her more than all the teachings of her Master on the subject of death. Regretfully having experienced the pains of his departure, she was forced to realise the reason behind the necessity of letting go. Her ability to still recall his face as clear as if it were day reminds her daily of the ‘dangers of attachment’, perhaps one of the early lessons taught to all younglings by the renowned Master Yoda. Visited often by the guilt and regret she had first felt at Kreone’s departure, she had finally forced herself to admit that perhaps she had, briefly, loved the young man.
Weapons:
A crystal lightsaber with a violet beam, an elegant weapon constructed under the teachings of her wise Master ‘Kiah.
Friends:
In her life, Leriana has come to know several special people who have made lasting impacts on the person she is. One of them is a young Jedi named Kaani Dashan, a Twi’lek native to Ryloth. Another is Cimanka Iaré****, a humanoid and a native Coruscani, once a gangster whose exploits were ended by the death of a companion. At a young age, she befriended young Anakin Skywalker, aiding him a newcomer to the Temple following the death of Qui-Gon, a reknowned Jedi Knight whom her master had told her much about.
Family:
Her mother Keriane Murin and her father, Fidelus Aveill’e, were honest citizens of Dathomir. Though Leriana no longer sees them, she holds them dearly in her heart, as she does her brother Rhian. Shakiah is also, to her, an integral part of her secondary family, who are the Jedi, whom she feels she owes much to.
Appearance:
Leriana’s fair complexion contrasts with her sleek, wavy, raven black hair. She has a slender frame, with medium height and build. She often dons some simple grey robes when need arises to travel in secret, or her secondary robes, which are jet black, lined with silver strikes, which she wears over a dark pull over. Her belt is sleek black in colour, lined with silver buckles, along with a place reserved at her side for her lightsaber.
Other:
A young woman with sharp instincts and refined agility, she is a tricky pilot with a liking for sharp twists and deep descents. Leriana’s training consisted of Form IV lightsaber combat, but frequently prefers to partially mimic the movements of enemies to gain a better footing by creating a semi-purposeful, self-taught style. As a result, she rarely fights completely within the range of combat rules. In between duties, she likes to explore the streets of Coruscant, from the upper limits of sky rise apartments to the lower levels of downtown Coruscant.
Personality:
Leriana is, in all words, a friendly, reliable, easy going young woman. She respects the decisions of her mentors, as well as her associates, and the word of every sentient being, within logic. So, contrary to the opinions of many of the other Jedi, she holds due, deserving respect for most politicians. Deeply trusting of her instincts, and those of her foresighted brother, with whom she shares a profound force-connection not unrare among the Force-sensitive Jedi, she is often labelled by Shakiah as over-trusting. She is somewhat wise in all other respects, and rarely jumps to quick conclusions. A positive thinker and sometimes overly optimistic, she believes in figuring her way out of every ‘difficult situation’, despite the odds, meaning that she is an endlessly supportive friend and companion to have around. However, her youth and innocence has meant that the glories of the occasional reckless or rash action has earned her frowns from her disapproving Master ‘Kiah.
Teasingly playful when it comes to humour and duelling with words, she likes to gain the upper hand of an opponent, whether it be friend or foe.
Leriana believes deeply in her values and beliefs, has powerful opinions, and though not stubborn, she likes to retain her own originality.
