Yay, you're coming over here, Ere', someday? That'd be awesome! Let me know when you do XD

yeah an ongoing letter is an excellent idea!

Heheh, who volunteers to start it?

Hobbity_Goose - September 4, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
I don't know whether I could start it (I'm not very good at beginning things like this) but if no one else offers I guess I'll have a go at doing it

Let me clear this up. Are we writing it on here in letter format OR we writing an actual letter and posting it to each other OR .... hmm I don't think there are any other possibilities. Apart from email, I guess.

Athéniel Egleriannen - September 14, 2006 11:31 AM (GMT)
What I mean is... we write actual letters, aka 'old fashioned snail mail', but it ain't really, since I never have quite stopped writing them since email anyways. Besides, I feel letters are somewhat romantic, heh, but that's completely off on another road of thought.

So, what I propose happens, is (I hope everywhere here is trustworthy!), we let anyone who would like to join this thing sign up by posting here to start off with (supposing people do want to sign up), how's that sound?

We could just, like, write letters in character/ out of character, stick them in an envelope, send them to the next person, who can read/ photocopy the letter if they like, add their own, then send it to the next, and so on in a circle ^^ Keep in mind my ideas have always been crazy ^_^ It could be potentially fun ^^ Plus we'd all each have a keepsake memoir from this site ^^

AHAH. In Character!! *DIES*

Just think.

Meren.

*snorts, erupting in laughter*

I think that would be totally cool to write character letters as if we were Erelith and Tiwele or something. Totally neat. Speaking of which, you remember how you mentioned once this RP had "potential"? Well, it's been in the making for quite some time now, but the first chapter of my original story for Erelith may be up in November during National Novel Month - online - as an E-book. {a little book where you can literally read online and turn the pages.} :) It hasn't strayed hopefully too much from the plot, but I had to make it more original and not rip off the ingenious man we all know as Tolkien ...completely, as I felt horrid about doing so. At any rate, I thought I would mention it.

As for the snail mail idea, it's really neat. It gives everyone something to look forward to {other than junk mail or bills} in the mail. The idea to staple/photocopy the letters and resend them is an alright idea, but you might as well be sending a journal or something to pass around. I know that can take a month at least overseas to where you live in Australia {from here} though. I suppose though when it gets to the point the letters are insanely thick, we'll think of something.

I don't mind posting my address on here:

Mikaela Miller
340 Shaver Road
West Sand Lake
New York, 12196

Just lemme know if anyone is gonna send stuff, so I can anticipate it. :)

Athéniel Egleriannen - September 15, 2006 06:05 AM (GMT)
Aaah, this sounds even better than I originally intended ;)

Hell yes, this RP has potential! *grins* I <3 it. You know, I was thinking of potentially publishing this as an original piece of fiction someday (wild idea I had not too long ago) under the penship of you and me. Sort of like what you've done with that originally story (Hope I get to read it!) Since you know how you said you might come to Australia later on? Farfetched, I know.
[PS. These RPs aren't intended to rip off Tolkien, since they're credited to be LotR-based RPs... until you take them somewhere else.]

We could send a small notebook or journal around (that ink pen I have could come in useful ^_^), nice idea :) Half-A4, or A4? It'd be so fun to play Tîwele, but I wouldn't be able to resist not adding in some of Almárean's letters, either =)

Just some things to figure out first, regarding the 'letters':
Time period-- How's this for an idea, Varsis, Erelith and Meren have died... At the end of 'Abandoned Ways', after their reunion, Tîwele and Almárean are granted a gift by the Valar-- and they write letters to those of the past (your characters), across death. Seriously, there is no where else we can seem to fit the setting, and this sounds somewhat... intriguing ^^
Reason-- Valar forbid, Tîwele misses them to bits, which the exception of Meren. They can also sort of sort out their problems.

(Lucy, you can use your character and join too if you like ^^)

AHA, why don't we... give him the chance... to redeem himself for his actions here? Or is he so evil that he is incapable of that?[/COLOR]

Erelith - September 16, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
My original story - I meant to say it was hopefully different - but not that far off from the original LOTR Rp's. Let's just say, in my story I made Ere's predicament just a tad worse. XD

Just a tad. *grins evilly and looks around with shifty eyes*

I think your idea about the letters are totally cool!! ahah, I could see myself trying out different handwriting's for Varsis and Erelith and Meren. That would be interesting. I think after Meren and everyone dies, for some reason I could see him not being so mean...but still having mean tendancies. Hah. I really wish I could draw cartoons.

Erelith: Do you mind?
Meren: What? *unconsciously choking her*
Erelith: You're choking me....again.
Meren: Oh. I hadn't noticed.
Erelith: *grumbles to self* Varsis? A little help would be nice now and again.
Varsis: *pouts in corner* I'm still not talking to you! HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL ME WE MADE BABIES?
Erelith: A baby. Grammically speaking.
Varsis: Still not talking to you...*shuns*

You know it would be neat if we could actually add it into the fan fiction, but on Tolkien standards it would be stretching the limits. I just had this random idea about a Raven {symbol of vast knowledge, also symbol of death. Used to bring slain warriors to Valhalla, if I am talking about the correct mythological usage. If not, it's probably some other myth I got confused with.} going back and forth from the halls of Mandos. Blah, oh well. Right?

I just thought it would have been neat because Thurinae could have talked to her parents, but again...it's totally stretching the limits of Tolkien standards.

Edit: Haha. I wish we could do a Parody fic of these characters. I shall be satisfied of that when we reach the Sedryn house no doubt. ^^ Not only do the twins give good entertainment, but man....all of them together? Fun stuff.

Athéniel Egleriannen - September 28, 2006 12:06 PM (GMT)
Definitely *grins* The very idea sounds AWESOME. I was trying out my writing styles, trying to figure out whether it would be Tîwele or Almárean who would most likely like to write all loopy and swirly. I'm insane.

Yes, I suppose it does stretch the limits, but... it's part of our fan fic/ roleplay universe... it's meant to be sort of up to our imagination, isn't it? XD Tolkien doesn't have to know 8-) Actually, he's had people come back from the dead, people turn from immortal to mortal, he's had the Valar come into contact with those on Arda, so surely, this wouldn't be that out of the range, would it?

Will also add that that bit of dialogue made me laugh. Too bad it's not a spoof... *pause*... I'd love to do a parody (I brake for parodies) but shall we establish that the thing will be, in a limited sense, serious?

Oooh the raven thing is a great idea, I think we should use it. But since a raven is normally a symbol of evil, I reckon we should have some other bird as well, that sort of symbolises purity and good, like a dove? Just so it balances out; heheh I love philosophy. Evil (Meren) vs. Good (the others), immortality (Valinor) vs mortality (Arda), death vs life. The raven (which could materialise from the grains of all the evils the characters have committed by this point) should travel by night and deliver to Valinor and the Halls of Mandos, and the dove should deliver by day, and be sent by the hand of one of the Valar.

Erelith - September 28, 2006 12:13 PM (GMT)
Raven's aren't evil....I dunno where you got that idea.

Actually, I do, considering in European/English-like cultures the bird is a symbol of 'death' and what not. Especially if you've seen the crow. But that's a <b>crow.</c>

Norse mythology:

In Norse mythology the ravens Hugin and Munin are scouts for the most high god Odin. They fly all over the world and ask questions to both the living and the dead and return with news for Odin.

Here's more mythology. Not complete, but just some more.

http://web.telia.com/~u85903393/corvus_english.html

I figure the raven thing was befitting in some sense because Tolkien was a huge fan of Norse Myth, {so I've read.}

Athéniel Egleriannen - September 28, 2006 12:27 PM (GMT)
Ah, ok. I like mythologies, it's interesting stuff. I suppose the idea was influenced by a couple of things. One was Shakespeare, another was your use of the raven as the symbol of the Môrelen house. Besides, I think you mentioned it was a symbol of evil, once. But things can be interpreted different ways. The idea of the raven can sort of change with Meren, so it might no longer be evil like it was (supposedly) at the start. I'm just ranting out random ideas here ^_^

[I was editting the thread this stemmed from, and your post appeared out of nowhere, and I was all, 'what the--?! Where did that come from' then I realised it was a new post and that you were online :oddlook: heheh]

Erelith - September 28, 2006 02:23 PM (GMT)
hehe, that's probably why you view it as 'evil' ....'cause it's Meren's thing. ;D

Meren = evil incarnate. ^_________^

I wish I could huggle him, but he bites. *frownie face* He's not very people-friendly.

I think we should do a parody of some sort, any ideas?

Actually I chose the raven {to be honest with you} as the 'bringer of death' as it was read in celtic myth, I believe. All other mythologies the symbol of a raven represents wisdom, and good though.

'bringer of death'

Well then, I can see why you chose it ^_^
A parody would be... *thinks*... interesting. That's a bland word. On one hand, yea, I'd like to do a parody (I've always been insane). Why would you not? ^^ But on the other hand, I've gotten to know my charries so well, and it would be so strangely out of character. It would be odd... But we could do both. In fact, we could start a parody version now. (You just made me excited) *Is tempted to start a thread*

It would be like...
Meren: Here, hold the knife. Take it in both hands like this... *shows him*
Almárean (bluntly): It's plastic.
Meren: Of course it is. Why would I entrust you with something metal and sharp?
Almárean: You're MEAN!!!
(Almárean stabs him)
Meren: Ouch.
Almárean: That wasn't good enough.
Meren: What?
Almárean: You're supposed to scream. Let me demonstrate. Aeoeoeoooaeaaaiooooowwwwwwwwhhhhh!!!!!!!!!%#$@%#&@@!!!?!?!! ... and then scatter.

*Laughs* That was realli random. But I like it!
