I have only a few moments online but I felt compelled to comment. That is such... devastating news... :crying: Imagine what 'the Hobbit' might be like being in someone else's hands-- we have no idea what to expect. It's either going to be terrible or it's going to be decent enough to match LotR; it's a big risk the studio are taking.
I don't understand the underlying complicated issues and all, I'm sure there are many reasons, but it's indeed a bit of a shock *sniffs*. I'm concerned it'll just never give justice to its sequel >.< PJ and Fran are right, it's not about a stupid business deal, it's about placing faith and passion in your storytelling, but is anyone other filmmaker gunna have that same spirit and outlook on things? 'Cause there's a legion of people out there who simply <3 and care about the books...
Awwh, I was looking forward to PJ's rendition of 'the Hobbit', looks like it ain't gunna happen now :(
PS. You got to meet Royd Tolkien? When? Why? How? Curious ^^
(Thanx for sharing that. I never kneeeww *wails*)
