Intro
If you havent done roleplaying before, it's exactly as the name says, taking on an imaginary role of a person, creature, animal (or thing) in an imaginary world. Sometimes, it does get addictive (just a bit) ;)

Getting started...
It is a good idea to introduce your character/s here before bringing them out into the world. Eg. their name/s, characteristics, personality, past/ history, appearance, race, etc. Unless, of course, you're playing existing Tolkien characters, like members of the Fellowship. Introducing an existing character from the books whose character is pretty obscure and exploring their personality is a good idea too. You can take on more than one character in any of the forums or across forums, wherever they can belong. Remember that each roleplay storyline usually takes place in a set time period and place/s. If the storylines in two separate Roleplays clash with your character's history, your character's background will not be consistent.

Make sure you introduce each character first, and when you change from one character to another while posting, specify in some way eg. changing font colour or style.

When thinking of starting a new thread...
You can start a new thread if you don't want to go with any ones existing. Consider what you are going to post before posting. Try not to desert any threads you start afterwards.

Joining a thread...
After you join a thread, try not to desert it without reason. If you leave for some particular reason for long time, either temporarily or permanently, try to give your character a legitimate reason to leave. Otherwise, you don't want your character ending up at the hands of others, do you? Who knows what terrible untimely end they may come to if they meet with bad luck?

Guidelines
~Avoid creating outrageous godly abilities for your characters that make you superior to other characters. Respect and be considerate of other characters and what others choose to do. This is a new one-- Avoid taking over the speech (and actions) of other characters unless in rare cases. They are, in your character's eyes, the reaction they see of another character. Do not be abusive, insulting or offensive. You can talk about what is possibly going to happen in the OOC of a thread, but do not let it affect your character's judgements and actions. Avoid being over specific and do not direct the Roleplay in the direction you plan without giving others a say.
~Logic. If in the storyline, your characters are on the trail of a purpose, do not abandon that earlier purpose just because you feel you want to direct the RP in a completely different direction.If your character has just met someone, it makes sense then that they do know each other's names and perceive each other as strangers. If you know something, this does not mean the character will.
~Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. This speaks for itself. Please check over if you're unsure- makes it easier for everyone else to comprehend as well as you.

Are we allowed to just post anywhere in already particular roleplays? (Hm, I don't know what to do. I suppose it might be difficult for me to get a first post out.) We don't need approval to start do we? I know some forums make it so your character needs approval first. I just wanted to check and make sure.

Yup, it's alright just to post anywhere, as long as you have a viable character that fits... ie. If you bring a character in a roleplay that is set in the First Age, unless the character has more than one life, they won't be able to also be in a roleplay set in the Fourth Age. You can, of course, have more than one character, and it's a good idea to introduce each, as others might want to know about them. Unless a thread has a specific OOC that you probably need to post in first (like the Path of the Ring), you should be able to join any thread. You're also welcome to create a OOC/ Discussion thread for any RP that doesn't have one. (If your not the creator, make sure you tell the person who is first) :)

This might be easier (since I hate trying to change font color XD) I will make another name to sign up under as another character of mine. (don't worry, I won't make a bajillion.) That way no one gets too confused. (hopefully)
