Title: Aragorn: Viggo or Stuart
Description: should it of been stuart or Aragorn????
Hobbity_Goose - April 28, 2005 06:15 PM (GMT)
I know this is a strange question... but i know who i will go with, no offence to Mr. Townsend but i've not seen any movies with him in but i'm glad Mr.Mortensen was chosen, he was my image of Aragorn..
What does everyone else think??

Viggo all the way B) He was the perfect man for the job. To tell the truth, I don't even know what Stuart looks like... I suppose it's also how first impressions go a long way. From the first, Aragorn was played out as Viggo and that's how he's been visualised for me. Maybe, if it were someone else, it would've been a slightly different character that we would've gotten used to. I haven't seen either in a film before so I wouldn't have been able to compare, but I'm glad they changed it to Viggo because he really is perfect for the role. Plus he likes horses :)

Oh man, the difference was awesome. I love Viggo. Stuart definitly didn't look as fitting in the costume as Viggo. (*digs up picture of them*) I can't believe you haven't seen him. UGLY.
Here's a link to Stuart in his Aragorn costume. I think he looks particularly bad in it, and I'm so thankful Viggo took the part <3

hmmm... for me my image of Aragorn was the one Viggo portrayed... i knew instantly that was Aragorn infront of me when i saw the films...
Looking at Stuart in the costume, his face looks very young, he doesn't appear to have the maturity of Viggo, the sharp facial features that appear to me to be Aragorn...
hmmm... did that make sense?? i tend to waffle and most of the time it doesnt make sense  :D !!!
Glad from looking at that picture stuart was not chosen to be Aragorn, i'm sorry that he was cut at such a late point in the process, as they had been through the whole orientation/bonding/type thing... hehe.. but i'm happy Viggo was chosen.. yay viggo!!! :D :Aragorn:
Erelith - July 5, 2005 08:08 PM (GMT)
Ah, I am glad too they picked Viggo. That's the way I pictured him.
Athéniel Egleriannen - July 11, 2005 09:19 AM (GMT)
*stares at the picture* He looks odd in Aragorn's costume. Viggo definitely looks more fitting. But part of that might be because we're all used to him being the Aragorn. Maybe if Stuart in the costume there were some other man (*picks someone random* like, say another of the Dúnedain), it could be accepted, but not Aragorn now that Viggo's come onto the scene.
I only found this out not that long ago, but Orlando originally auditioned to become Aragorn, but instead got landed the part of Legolas. Imagine Orli as Aragorn... I think he would seem slightly too young to portray Aragorn.
Erelith - July 11, 2005 11:30 AM (GMT)
I thought it was Faramir? Or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.
Hobbity_Goose - July 13, 2005 07:26 PM (GMT)
hmm.. i can't remember, but i heard about that.. Orli as someone else than legolas.. how odd... well maybe it would of been okay from the start if it has been that way round but, as you said we're used to them being the characters they portray in the films.... hmmm..
Athéniel Egleriannen - July 14, 2005 10:14 AM (GMT)
Wait, you're right, it is Faramir. I just got muddled. Maybe if Orli had been Faramir instead, everyone would have stopped obsessing over the Elf and started obsessing over Faramir instead  (Which I think would be well deserved because Faramir needs love and deserves a hug :( Did either of you feel sorry for him when you saw first saw RotK?)

Haha, Actually I laughed because Denethor is so much like my mother. I whispered 'hey mom should have married him instead' to my boyfriend in the theatre. Yes though, I felt bad for Faramir. Sadly, I could completely relate. My mom is alot like Denethor. She's degrading to me, but I know she doesn't know how to show me affection. She always sends my father to try and do that. Enough about me though...
Hobbity_Goose - July 18, 2005 03:25 PM (GMT)
hmmm, didn't really obssess over orli, i thought he was brilliant at being legolas, but didn't think much more of him. i prefer elijah  :P  !!!
hmm, but yeah i felt kinda sorry for Faramir, wish there could of been more on his relationship with Eowyn, but it doesn't bother me that much. Aww..... :faramireowyn: hehe...

I already have my own curly headed frodo-lij :P (boyfriend, and no I don't date him because of that. Hehe, I've gotten too many of those questions.) He wants to dye his hair black, which I think will just remind me too much more of frodo. -shakes head-
Athéniel Egleriannen - September 1, 2005 11:11 AM (GMT)
Your boyfriend looks like frodo/ Lij? Awwww... awww... Ah, I know, I don't even know what he looks like, but... aw... You should encourage him to dye his hair black or brown :yesnod: Aw, I wuv Lijie

It's odd, the only time I ever obsessed over Orli and thought I'd caught the Orli obsession was not by watching lotr, but for a week straight after I watched PotC XD

O_o waaa? Creeepy... *backs away from your mum* Nah, I'm sure she isn't as bad as Denethor, but I really can't imagine someone being like him. He's evil! Your mum's like my dad. He can't deal with emotions. For that matter, neither of them can ever understand it when I cry during a movie, because they just don't do it...
:crying: I wanted more of Faramir and Eowyn too! :faramireowyn: They're my fave couple!
Erelith - September 1, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
Awwh yeah, me too. There wasn't anything in the extended about them was there? :faramireowyn: I still don't think I've been through it all yet.

It maybe just because I'm use to viggo, but Stu just doesn't look right. He looks too young for a start. :Aragorn:
Lozadora - September 12, 2005 07:01 PM (GMT)
I am also glad that Viggo got the Aragorn role, i think he was more the right age and the role just really seemed to suit him, the fact that he is absolutely gorgeous didn't hurt either!! :Aragorn:
Having said that I do feel I should stick up for Stuart Townsend, I'll grant you that in the Aragorn outfit he really doesn't look that special but he is in fact equally as gorgeous as Viggo in his own way :yesnod: you guys should really check out 'The queen of the Damned' Stuart is v. hot in that *drools*... anyway *gets off soap box and joins in with the Viggo appreciation* :rotkkiss:
Erelith - September 12, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
Oh.My.God.
You just hit my fandom jackpot.
Stuart er...Lestat. God I love him. I think it's just his egotistical wise comments. :D I don't know what else to say, except...OMGLESTAT...out of fandom.
Lozadora - September 13, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
And how could you not love him??? Undoubtedly Viggo was the best Aragorn, but i felt it my duty to stick up for poor Stuart *huggles Stuart...no wait, huggles Lestat...*
There is just something undescribably sexy about him in QOTD, and that voice... *bounces off to watch QotD*
Erelith - September 13, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
Though, I'm sure if you actually hugged him he'd have you for a tasty meal, whether it satisfies anything or not. -love from afar- haha.
(shh...don't tell Varsis.)
j_mercuryuk - September 15, 2005 10:32 AM (GMT)
I don't doubt Stu's skills, but I just don't think he could of pulled Aragorn off as well.
Erelith - September 16, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
Nor vice versa. Viggo definitly would not of made a good Lestat -cracks up at her mental pictures- He's too shy about everything Lestat isn't, just wouldn't work with the looks or the personality. Hahahaha. I have such funny mental pictures right now...
