Title: Images of Middle-earth
Description: :)
Athéniel Egleriannen - June 6, 2005 11:29 AM (GMT)
Have you ever come across a place, or something that resembled or embodied a place or image that seems like it’s been taken straight out of Middle-earth? Hm, see, a few days ago, I happened to be absent-mindedly staring out the window, and it just so happened to be sunset, and the sky was glowing with gold (you know how it is, if you’ve ever watched a sunset), making the clouds tinge bright red. There was a gap within the clouds where a brilliant ray of red light flooded through, and it was actually a pretty breathtaking sight. In my neighbour’s yard, they have a large tree, and because it’s Autumn here at the moment, all the leaves have fallen. That particular day, it just stood out really stark against the sunset and that flood of light gushing through the clouds, and the immediate thought that occurred to me was that this is just like an image straight out of Mordor. Strange I know, but it was my immediate impression, and it was a pretty beautiful thing :) Someday, if I ever figure out how my digital camera works with the computer, or if we get a scanner and we come across another of those days, I’ll make sure I take a snapshot and share it with you all :)

This is a photomanipulation I did of Erelith, it's not perfect but I thought I would post it and see what everyone thinks of it. O_o I know, her eyebrow isn't the same color as her hair. I had issues with it. (and her skin is a little bluer than planned.)
I will have pictures of me in January, or possibly sooner dressed as Erelith. I'm starting her costume tomorrow. I plan on having her raven tattoo painted on my shoulder too. ^_^ Gonna have slightly blue skin. Should be interesting. I'm sure my boyfriend will love it. Hehe.
Athéniel Egleriannen - July 3, 2005 11:28 AM (GMT)
Oh wow, that looks really authentically dark elf-like! You did a great job of capturing her ;) It looks just like Erelith. Maybe you could dye your hair (or dye that small strand of hair)... or colour it with a texta (something generally for boring school days when your sitting for long hours in the classroom) which I wouldn't recommend. It can't be too good for your hair. I wub it :) Is the blue shade make-up or light (or both)? I'd love to see the raven tattoo, and hope the costume turns out good, hope you share it with us when it's done :)
Erelith - July 3, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
Ah, I am taking a break from school so I have lots of free time on my hands. (escpecially since I quit work too. XD mom won't be happy, but I think I'm getting a state job, so more $$ for me. :P) people at my last work were jerks. (to put it nicely. )
That picture was just a random one I found I thought represented Erelith well. This should be interesting to see what I look like in blue body paint. Don't worry, I'll make people take lots of pictures so I can put them on here. :D I was looking up features of dark elves, and it seems I relatively would fit into them.
I'm just having trouble designing the tattoo :( I'm not sure what I want it to look like, escpecially since I'm not sure if I was going to have tribal tatooes on my arms and legs and stuff. I might look cool, but not sure still.
Edit: I'm going to be using blue body paint, and black body paint for her skin. (black for the tattooes) I decided to keep my hair long until the convention so I can dye my hair temporarily white/silver instead of having a wig. I'm not sure what brand I will be getting, the convention is still far away.
Athéniel Egleriannen - July 11, 2005 10:37 AM (GMT)
Dyeing your hair sounds nice. Your hair's already pretty light, so it could be better to dye it a slightly lighter shade- almost whitish. Or, if there's a silver-white colour somewhere in between the two, that would be even better. Just my opinion ;)
Ooh the tattoo. I love drawing designs so just possibly I might be able to help you out. The only problem is, my digital camera doesn't work, so if that works at all, we'll have to make do with description
Anyway, let us know how you go with the Erelith portraying...
Erelith - July 11, 2005 11:28 AM (GMT)
Aye, that isn't my hair.
Or me. Silly Elf. :D
On the Contrary I have tan skin, brown eyes and brown-black hair. I don't know how the whole white hair thing will go over. God I hope it won't be a permenant thing. Lol, that would suck.
That's just a photo manipulation I did of her. It's not really me, just a random stock photo I found. Thanks for the compliment though. She's pretty. :D
This is me >>----->

(Taken last year at the convention, so my hair is a bit longer.)
Hobbity_Goose - July 13, 2005 07:23 PM (GMT)
just curious what convention is it your going to?? and whats it all about!!!
I hope it all goes well for you - dyeing you hair could be difficult - there is a dye remover you can buy from some shops - i was tempted to use it when i dyed my hair red and it was much too brighter than i expected hehe.. but after washing it a couple of times it darkened thank goodness!!
hmm.. interesting blue skin... wonder what that would look like ... *dazes off into space..*
Erelith - July 14, 2005 05:23 AM (GMT)
The convention is called Genericon, There's a larger one going on this summer I can't afford to go on...it's like, over 100 something dollars because its a few states away. Everyone goes though. It's awesome....
Genericon is just a 'cosplay' convention. You dress up as anime, or any story characters or original characters you want. My boyfriend is going as a piratey/samurai dude from Samurai Champloo, the dude with the red hair...because he has red hair...lol. <3 though. I love pirates, (sexy) and red hair is a definite plus. This is a picture of us a while back. (just so you get an idea of what (if you know what this dude looks like from the show) he will look like.)

Lol, I died my hair today...er, red-brown. turned out interesting. should have a piccie soon.
Erelith - September 18, 2005 05:26 AM (GMT)
I am completely in love with the way this came out, for once..I can say I'm satisfied. This is a character of mine for X-men, I <3 him :)
Erelith - September 26, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)

well-I-guess-my-space-bar-or-nothing-else-is-working-but-comments-anyone?-I-don't-know-where-this-letter-would-have-come-about-perhaps-an-unwritten-one-to-Varsis?
Athéniel Egleriannen - September 29, 2005 06:04 AM (GMT)
Oh wow Ere', neat stuff. I love the way you've done that letter. You didn't write it out by hand did you? If you did, I love the writing! And the ID card's really nice too, did you put it together yourself? These deserve to go in the creations section :yesnod:
Erelith - September 29, 2005 11:51 AM (GMT)
Yep, did it all. I’m kind of doodling this picture of a dark elf on my computer (started it last night) but I’m not so sure I’m into it. I want to draw a picture of Varsis and Erelith together or just portraits alone. The letter was just spur of the moment, and I really don’t know where the heck it came from O_o
The body content of the letter is font, the addressing and the signature at the bottom of the letter is my own writing. I’ve got a tablet (if you know what they are :P) so it makes things a bit easier for script/drawing stuff. It’s like a big digital sketchpad.
Athéniel Egleriannen - October 2, 2005 06:34 AM (GMT)
I didn't know you could get tablet thingys. Think next time i go into a computer store should go hunting for them :yesnod: I've been hunting for something like that for ages, except I had something like a whiteboard in mind, one of those whose screen's connected to the computer. Your writing's nice :)
I've tried drawing on my computer several times, but it never quite seems to work the way I want it to. What program are you doing it on? Or are you using that tablet thing. I'd love one of those ^_^ Some people do really awesome pixel drawings on paint, and I've tried but I can never do them quite as perfect...
I'd love to see your portraits if you do them Ere' :) You have got to be a better drawer with the computer than me.
Lozadora - October 3, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
OOO I'd really like to see your computer drawings Ere :yesnod: I can't draw using paint or anything either, I suppose if I practiced enough I might be able to do it... But yeah, upload your drawings if you will we'd love to see them 8-)
Erelith - October 3, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
My tablet isn’t a program, merely an electronic sketch pad. Whatever I draw on the tablet’s pad (separate from the computer) goes into any format of a drawing program. This would include MS paint, and I used to use Paint Shop Pro before I got into college (and didn’t have a tablet, also did pixel work then ^_^) after I learned about the mac programs we had in our art labs, (lol, not your traditional art class. We did all our work digitally…major was graphic design ^_^) I really enjoyed them and caught on quick, so I got my neighbor (in the dorms) to bootleg a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS, it rocks *nods head* Pro’s use it I guess…it’s really good for all sorts of things, whether your doing pixel work, photo manipulation, or just sketching. Plus the fact that if you don’t like one way of doing something, there’s a billion other options on how to get the same job done.
Anywho ^_^ here’s another ID, Erelith’s anyways. She doesn’t look like a happy camper in it. O_o Oh well, maybe she’s peeved about something? (Besides the fact she never is much of a happy camper)same layout as the other one, but I think I am beginning to hate that layout...sideways irks the crap out of me, for text anyways. Not to mention I can't make a straight line even when Adobe helps me. :P
Working on a realistic one, but my attention span stinks for those kind of things.
Lozadora - October 4, 2005 07:01 PM (GMT)
Wow, that drawing is fabulous *bows down to Ere's greater drawing ability* I really like her expression...its perfect. :galadrielangry:
Erelith - October 4, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
Thanks, any ideas on what expression to give Varsis? I was thinking something humorous, but that's still kind of vague.
Athéniel Egleriannen - October 5, 2005 11:50 AM (GMT)
Ooh nice stuff Ere! I love that ID Card, it's so cool ^_^ Did you actually go and draw that yourself (using whatever you used(? Well DUN, it actually does look like Ere :yesnod: I think for Varsis, you should make his expression the exact opposite, because aren't their personalities complete opposites? You could make him smile, or outright laughing his head off (which would be funny :D) at some... random... thing...
:crying: Boohooo. I used to have Photoshop on my old computer. It was like the most addictive program ever (well, for me it was), because I just couldn't stop playing with it. I think it was by far my favourite graphics program, then my poor comp broke down and we had to get a new one, which was undoubtedly so much better, but it didn't have Photoshop! So I only had Corel, which is okay, but really different altogether. I'm now deprived of my fave program *goes away sobbing because her friend refuses to lend her the CD* I miss it...
I love playing around with graphics, but the really evil thing is, I can't do IT or Visual and Design at school like I'd love to, because it doesn't fit into my pre-reqs, so I have to teach myself :crying:
Oops, rambling again :frown:
Erelith - October 22, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
Meren as Erelith was growing up (I think) before he completely allied himself with the dark side. Also before he learned how to weild magic.
NOT done by me though, wish I could take credit however. It's such a beautiful piece of art.
Athéniel Egleriannen - October 23, 2005 11:44 AM (GMT)
It does somehow look like how I pictured Meren B) It's a very nice piece, so realistic it looks like a photo. Is this when he's still semi-evil? I knew he had some good in him to start with ^_^ He looks like he's trapped somewhere.
Erelith - October 23, 2005 02:26 PM (GMT)
Looks like he's contemplating the evil-ness. Maybe it's right before he decides to go bad? I dunno.
